He is to busy with Chaos Reborn at the moment

I never liked Terror from the Deep...
Terror from the Deep was really tough.

Yep, and the idea was not bad, but the problem is that IMO the whole artistic design of the game was awful compared with the first XCOM, I never get into it... the enemies, the color palette, the weapons and vehicles designs...

Well probably most part of you know, but if you want to re-play the old ones check this page

the xcom games are really a success history that i would hope happens more often.

there was a time that old franchises would return in the form of fps.

if i recall correctly the "real" game was to be a first person shooter (eventually the game was released and i read that it was not very good) and this game was sort of like a side project.

Poor syndicate did not have the same luck

It was actually pretty good, if you like the theme. And it had a great premise - it's just a shame that squad controls were so weird and squa AI absolutely rubbish

Thanks for that page, it's always fun to give it a try again after so many years. I remember how attached I got to the characters after they survived for a while and started to have their own biographies. LOL

The problem was all the games in the series while full of great ideas, were also buggy as hell and in some cases nigh impossible without user mods to fix glaring programming errors.

Yeah, well I use to put names of people I know to the characters, LOL

The OpenXcom also change some of this bugs, and fix many things, giving you the possibility to activate this new gameplay options or just keep to the original ones.

I've beaten the original a long time ago when I was in University.

Now I can't stand looking that pixel graphic anymore since even openxcom reuses the original assets. -.-

You can use some filters for pixels, as DOSBOX does.
Steam only = dead to me.

Even if it wasn't, I'm extremely burned out on the X-Com series in all its forms and haven't even touched any of them since X-Com Apocalypse. So many attempts to make a new X-Com.. and a lot of them bad, over-modernized (like this is going to be as well) or mediocre. There's UFO:AI that I've tried every now and then, but it's obviously not in the series and is also very, very mediocre (but free).

Man, we're coming up on 20 years since Apocalypse was released. That's some serious burn-out.

If you really haven't touched any of them since, you're missing out on a good game in the XCOM: EU and EW offering. Especially with Long War (for the greatly increased item and soldier variety), it's a really good example of how to do a spiritual successor for an old IP.

Here's another hardcore burnout of mine: I don't even remember when the last time was when I spent any non-zero amount of money on any game. That boycott has lasted for.. something close to a decade. Thought that might change with GOG and for a while it seemed promising. No chance of that now, completely lost trust after following things that have been going on here for about a year.

There's an impossibly large amount of reasonably good completely free games anyway.
Gameplay Trailer. Too little gameplay and too much trailer as far as I'm concerned, but the hacking looks neat. And... That seems to be just about the only actually new thing as opposed to just new content.
