I've only had short bursts to pick at the game lately thanks to a coding project I'm working on, and my play sessions never get very far because I'm still google-diving a lot of the basics. My plan for an Aspiring Explorer is to build an arsenal of ion weapons so I can effectively capture my first ship, which I was struggling to do as a Bankrupt Pirate. Seems like every pilot in the X universe has a kamikaze mentality.
There'll be a diary up soon; I just love taking my time to figure out games like this.

I have learned a lot (do not trust the autopilot!), and have a lot more to learn. I started with Terran Conflict as I read it has more plots, but soon switched to Albion Prelude when I found a mod to add the TC plots to it. I am using a joystick to play (Fun fact: Windows 10 will not turn the screen off with a joystick plugged in.) which gives me a better feel for the flying, although I do miss aiming with the mouse, and regularly grab it to click on something.
