Themken: Well, I have no idea where to find someone who would be willing to do a diary so will redeem Reunion too TOMORROW UNLESS you give it to someone else before that.
avatar
WinterSnowfall: I won't. As I said, it's all yours :). If I were you, I'd claim it and keep my retail copy as a backup.
Alright. Thanks again
Can I officially nominate WinterSnowfall as being the toppest guy in Romania? I'm actually shocked that people are ignoring this thread. You're a living legend for giving away this many copies, did you stock up on gift codes when the series was 75% off? I've just claimed mine and set it to install at full speed!

Did I mention this game was already on my wishlist? Because it was, and I kinda love you now.
+ 1 WinterSnowfall, very generous.
You're all very welcome.

Hahaha, now that's a funny concept (me being a living legend) :P.

No, I did not have a secret discount stash, but that would've been a smart move. I actually decided to get two additional codes this Friday, considering we only had 3 people in the competition and all of them seemed pretty eager to play the games ;).

Soak it up buddy, this praise can't be dodged~ You're seriously the best! I think a stranger doing favors for strangers deserves the same street cred as Jesus.

Anyway, the Insomnia sales are distracting me, but I'm going to commit to playing X3 this Saturday. I'll start a thread for the occasion as soon as I finish my first day (with screenshots!). Maybe I'll do it in general discussion to see if anyone else gets sucked into reading along.

Hardrada: Count me in, the X games have a good reputation, and while I have not tried a game diary before it could be interesting.
Does this guy know what he's won yet? :0

I wonder, no sign of Hardrada. Maybe struck down by flue.

I only got a little bit into my game, nowhere a whole day yet.

Don't worry, he knows ;). He's already claimed the games and is hopefully starting his game log.

I may join the fun. Can't show you my progress from day 0, but I'm currently working on mounting an assault on one of the Xenon sectors. I can at least show you around my forward operating base in Guiding Star :).

I am planying the game and making progress on figuring out how it works, although the 'tutorial' is very threadbare. I will post here when I have a diary entry to show.
Good to hear :-) I have an upper hand having played Reunion before. There is a lot to learn....

Now if only the fever would go down again so I would have some energy for X3 grrr.

EDIT: Link to my diary https://www.gog.com/forum/x_series/my_x3terran_conflict_game_diary

Good luck! The learning curve is rather steep for a beginner. You should expect some moments of frustration.

Don't hesitate to ask (PM me) if you have any doubts - I'm a long time X veteran. Well, I started with X2 actually and gradually went through every game, until I eventually stopped at X3:AP.
My first day is finally complete and the diary is posted here.
I have learned a lot (do not trust the autopilot!), and have a lot more to learn. I started with Terran Conflict as I read it has more plots, but soon switched to Albion Prelude when I found a mod to add the TC plots to it. I am using a joystick to play (Fun fact: Windows 10 will not turn the screen off with a joystick plugged in.) which gives me a better feel for the flying, although I do miss aiming with the mouse, and regularly grab it to click on something.
They call it the auto-PILLOCK.... and yes, do not trust it. I disconnect my joystick for playing the X games.

In AP it's ok-ish, though it can still get you killed every now and then. You don't want to know how bad it was in X3: Reunion, and activating SETA somehow made things worse. Ah, all those "happy" memories...

P.S.: I got caught up in the fun and decided to create my own play-through diary, though I'm quite a bit in the later stages of the game right now.

Ehm, ehm... somebody's been sleeping on the job. Where's that diary? :)

Let's just say it's been a very long first day~~

I've only had short bursts to pick at the game lately thanks to a coding project I'm working on, and my play sessions never get very far because I'm still google-diving a lot of the basics. My plan for an Aspiring Explorer is to build an arsenal of ion weapons so I can effectively capture my first ship, which I was struggling to do as a Bankrupt Pirate. Seems like every pilot in the X universe has a kamikaze mentality.

There'll be a diary up soon; I just love taking my time to figure out games like this.
