Breja: Beacause it made over a billion dollars and kids love Iron Man, and it was funny, and it went boom, pew pew pew pew.

Although I guess seeing the Predator take off his helmet to reveal Ben Kingsley might be quite funny.

Elmofongo: Again this is the second time I have seen people reference a Marvel Superhero movie as inspiration to making a different movie that is not Superhero like.

Like that D&D movie being inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy :P
You can add the new Star Trek to this list. That is also supposed to be more Guardians of the Galaxy.

In this case, it makes a modicum of sense as a reference point, since Shane Black wrote and directed Iron Man 3.
Still pretty stupid, though. He should concentrate on making a good movie instead of a "big" movie.

Also, did he insinuate that Predator 2 and/or Predators sucked?

And technically the recent Planet of the Apes movies were taking inspiration from the Nolan Batman movies.

Why not the Tim Burton Batman mov- oh, right.

As was Skyfall, almost to the point of being a rip-off. Still, it's one thing to treat something as an inspiration and try to apply some of it's ideas where it makes sense, and a whole different matter to try to turn an existing franchise into a copy of something totally different, just because it made money.
CG Chariots
In related news, a man was arrested for not returning an overdue VHS copy of the movie Freddy Got Fingered.

How long until Hollywood remakes that masterpiece? I gots to know!

Crosmando: CG Chariots
They need CG for that.

In the original (non CGI) race, nine chariots start, six crash, and four finish.
Bad Idea Jeans.

Elmofongo: Now I worry about the Godfather, and Lawrance of Arabia, and Citizen Kane.

Ixamyakxim: In the remake, Rosebud ends up being a miniskirted pop diva, that he bangs at the end. Full frontal.

With an explosion.
So they managed to get Michael Bay to direct?

LOL I *almost* ended that with:

"with a Baysplosion" rather than what I did type - so glad that someone picked up on my intent ;)
Old films get a remake, games get remasterd, where has the imagination gone....
avatar
Breja: Meanwhile the people making the new Predator completely fail to understand what a Predator movie is supposed to be.
From my brain to yours.

You're welcome.
