Wow so hollywood finally caved and started rebooting and remaking old school classic academy award winning movies like Ben-Hur.

Now I worry about the Godfather, and Lawrance of Arabia, and Citizen Kane.

Don't. Even if they do make remakes, they will be forgotten faster than I was by every woman I ever met. It would pe pointless and cringeworthy, but ultimately incapable of harming the original in any lasting way.

That said, I've never seen the original Ben-Hur, and I won't be seeing this one, so I really don't much care personally about this news.
Ben Hur is untouchable. They can remake it all they want but nothing will ever beat the original.
To be fair, the "old school classic academy award winning" Ben-Hur (the one I'm assuming you are talking about from 1959) was the 2nd "remake" :P.
To be fair, Ben-Hur is based on an old novel and has been adapted to the screen at least five times already. Even the famous Charlton Heston movie is, I think, the third adaptation.

Why, however, historical epics have to look like mixtures of 300 and The Fast and The Furious is another topic, entirely.
This looks like one of those movies that'll age extremely poorly.
Wow indeed. It looks certifiably shitty in comparison.

Next they'll go for 1939's Gone with the wind, I bet. I can already see the trailer: Rhett. If you go, WHERE SHALL I GO WHAT SHALL I DO!!...*boom*..... (whisper) Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.

Yeah, I guess Ben Hur won`t wear a wrist watch in this movie! Ben Hur is only original with wrist watch!!!

In the modern version he says:"I don`t give a f*ck!".

Haha! Makes me wonder, will be make a knock off of the famous movie or the original story? It seems a little pointless if its a movie knock off.
Remember a few years back when they did a remake of the classic The Day The Earth Stood Still?

I hope not.
*throws up in mouth a little bit*

I watched that on tv at work (nothing better to do) and it wasn't as bad as Id thought it would be.
It'd probably best if they shut the thing down. Hollywood I mean. All of it. It's obviously reached the end as far as inspiration goes. Tis time to die.

In the remake, Rosebud ends up being a miniskirted pop diva, that he bangs at the end. Full frontal.

With an explosion.

I watched that not too long ago. What a pile of shit. I didn't expect it to be nearly as good as the original, which I regard as one of the best sci-fi movies ever, but everything about it, except maybe the first ten or fifteen minutes, was downright aggravating. Even if you disregard its connection to the original, it's just a terrible movie with a badly delivered message and one of the most aggressively unlikeable child characters ever seen.

I remember it quite well. Seen it in the theatre. Shit movie, but quite funny to watch with friends.
