RottenRotz: 1959 version is fantastic, timeless movie.i dont watch remakes

tinyE: The 1959 version is a remake.
I suppose everything is a remake in some way or another. Nothing new under the sun and all that.

There's a solution to this problem. They should stop making movies. Let's go back to puppet shows.

Elmofongo: And the Trailer is already revealed:

Wow so hollywood finally caved and started rebooting and remaking old school classic academy award winning movies like Ben-Hur.

Now I worry about the Godfather, and Lawrance of Arabia, and Citizen Kane.
I think they have run out of new ideas a fair while ago...

Correction the Blockbuster scene ran out of ideas.

We just need to look out the "Oscar Bait" movies at least they are of quality.

Nah. Hollywood just have to dare go out of bounds from all those unwritten rules how big films absolutely have to be.

Pheace: Kids are real dealbreakers sometimes, like Seven in Married with Children, or that incredibly frustrating son in The Strain.
Why did they change the kid? Second one was worse than the first. And yep seven was horrid. Funny how he was 'ignored' when they realized it wasn't working.

Phantom menace suffered having Anakin as a kid too. Then 2 & 3 suffered with Hayden and George Lucas seemingly having lost interest

As for the remake of Ben Hur? Why Hollywood? Why? There are truly no original ideas left in mainstream Hollywood. They need some more foreign films to rip off. Indie films seem like they'll go the way of indie games. That's where people will look for creativity I guess.

They better not mess with the Corleone's! Or they'll be swimming with the fishies!

Yup. I've stopped paying attention to those... two decades ago? Once I got a little older I realized it's just a bunch of the in-crowd patting each other on the back saying: "You done good son!"

I actually don't disagree.... they are ones for critics -- a lot of them would put me to sleep....and people have seen just because they win best movie doesnt mean they win at box office... plenty of this in the past...

Who cares about Rocky and Crash when we've got...

TANGO AND CASH.

Now there's a movie that needs a remake. No. Actually no. Don't even think about it.

I'm not worried about Hollywood caving in to remake classics because that's inevitable, beyond my control and those movies aren't my creative property anyway. All I have to see to is that I won't give Hollywood any money by watching those remakes which would only lead to disappointment anyway. Better to support the creation of something more promising and preferably more original. Once in a while something comes along that is so good that it doesn't have to be original, like the 1959 adaptation of Ben Hur with Charlton Heston but this happens rarely.
