^ banned because there's a joke about a geologist, a chemist and a liberal arts graduate talking and the geologist tells the liberal arts grad to "shut up and make our coffee" (philosophy is just about as useful as liberal arts)

Banned because geology has limited use as well, unless you happen to be predicting earthquakes (for which there are machines that do it pretty much automatically, I think), or you're trying to figure out how islands and such formed millions of years ago (but I'm not sure what practical effect that has on modern society, anyway).

Banned for not understanding that geology lead to the invention of those machines and there's always room for improvement. Also, it's a good idea to get an idea on where land-masses are going and prepare for whatever that entails; not to mention helping make a clearer timeline for the history of Earth.
