Already bought the classic verions on GOG why should i be tempted to buy them again?

Since the release of the EE versions I've read from various forums and communities saying that Beamdog has tinkered with the originals adding extra npc's and adding bugs and their latest expansion seems to a be a flop so far with transsexual themes thanks in part to their female writer.

Do i really want to give them money after such controversy or can i stay with the originals modded?

If you like to have your sex changed, buy it!
If you don't like to have your sex changed, FOR GODS SAKE DON'T BUY IT!

It's amazing how few words from minor NPC can make so big impact - but hey, it's internet. (or I missing something and there is something else?)

As for rest of the question - dunno :P
For example, I didn't like new NPCs very much (talking only about BG1 EE), interface tweaks were nice but that's about it.
Overall, hard choice.
Ask the Magic 8 Ball!
You shouldn't.
If they offer what you want then buy them or wait for a sale until they are $2 or some-ting.
For a few tweaks, they aren't worth the asking price.

Edit- i forgot it's still on sale :P thought it had ended...uh...bollocks.

My favourite reason: almost instant saves/loading times. If you rarely need or do actively save (and load) then it doesn't matter. Also, it doesn't waste CPU resources unecessarily. I think they did some upgrade on pathing issues too.
High resolution management is somewhat better than the Original Trilogy high res hack.

Plus, native linux without using GemRB (I've not tried GemRB for long in either windows or linux so I can't say to what extent this is a good thing).

IMO that's about it.

I got them in the 85% sale a few weeks back, gave them a try, but moved back to the original trilogy with mods. They're not bad, but they're not massively better. There's some new content, but they're relatively mod-unfriendly, so in regards to new content it's zero sum -leaning-on-actually-less-content, IMO.

The belt which changes sex of a character is present in original Baldur's Gate too.
The Enhanced Edition greatly improves the user interface while adding additional content. Overall it's a good package, and I'm quite enjoying my playthrough so far. Whether it's worth it to you is really a matter of preference. The original 90's-era interface has not aged well, so if you aren't going to install some mods to improve it I'd say EE is the way to go. It's still the same game, though, so if you aren't feeling like replaying it there's really no reason to buy it.

Siege of Dragonspear is another matter. I haven't played it myself, and intend to pick it up only once it comes on sale. However, given the massive uproar over the "transgender issue" I looked around for the actual facts surrounding the controversy. As it turns out, there is one minor NPC that you don't even need to talk to who happens to be transgender, but will only bring it up the matter if prompted by a specific conversation path. You could seriously play through the game without even realizing this content is there. I'd take the torrent of negative reviews with a grain of salt, since most appear to be fueled by misinformation and written by people who have not intention of ever actually playing the game.

The transsexual themes are a single non-recruitable NPC. It amounts to a few minutes out of 20+ hours of gameplay. Can you say "blown out of proportion"?

Also, even if it were a bigger part of the game, what's wrong with having a transgender character in a game?

After all, Undertale's main character is androgynous and that game sold really well.

For the most part, there isn't anything wrong with it. There is some validity to the complaints that it isn't written very well. I'll agree it's a little ... abrupt. In the end, it's still just minutes out of hours.

There's plenty of bad dialog in the original game(s) too.
I think you have your panties in a twist about the transgender thing. But also owning the originals i won't go out of my way to get the EE's.
