I think they are worth it. Beamdog have apologised for their mistakes with some of the way they handled the criticisms and they have apologised for the transgender character and the tokenism with that character and said they will rewrite the character so she fits better with the lore of DnD.

On top of that you get better resolutions, zoom, better difficulty options, extra NPCs, The expansions the BG 1 and 2, some extra quests, etc. So yes, I think they are worth it.

wolfsrain: Installed, crashed a few times, hit some bugs, uninstalled. Even with the 3$, still seems like a rip-off in its current state...:(
Really? You've been unlucky. I haven't had a crash in a long time with EE.

Full disclosure: I've started and finished 6 games of BG:EE version 1.3. I haven't played near as much BG2:EE. I haven't put more than a an hour or two into the V2.x release of BG:EE, all of this on Linux. Version 1.3 was, in my experience, very stable.

As a Linux user, I find the EE's far more stable than GemRB or WINE.

Edit: The other EE feature that I don't feel ever gets enough love is the revamped save/load function. Saving and loading in the the EE games is pretty much instantaneous. Even if you're not a save scummer, the faster load times are fantastic navigating the city proper. I'm a bit of a scummer, so I love being able to hit q for a quicksave, and having zero disruption to my game.
