chevkoch: Desert Bus would be a true family feature, until the very end when the driver snaps after having been told to make the eight hours return trip back to Tucson, and murders everyone in the terminal.

pimpmonkey2382.313: A CGI chris farley from billy madison should be the driver.

Damn post eating.
Chris Farley, perfect. Leaving Tucson at the start of the trip, he'd be just a good-natured bus driver, kind and helpful, and content with his job and life. The longer the mind-killing ride takes, his mood would grow ever darker, his personality meaner and more and more unpredictable. Hey, this really could be script that works :D

If we don't win any awards for this, it will be a miscarriage of justice.
I can't believe we all missed it!

Thank you to SpooferJahk in another thread for bringing it to mind.

TRON!

It's fucking great from beginning to end, it's classic! It's timeless! It is godly!

tinyE: Look at it this way, it couldn't be any worse than the Matrix Trilogy. :P
Fun fact: The Matrix Reloaded is one of the only two movies I've walked out of and so far the last one.

It's not a game adaptation although it's inspired by Pong and video games.

So did the game come after the movie?

chevkoch: Silent Hill I always name as a success story when it comes to movie adaptations of games. It might not be 100% true to the game itself, but it had the guts to be its own thing and I'm very fond of the outcome. Also, it met my taste of a horror story that had great atmosphere but doesn't leave you scared out of your mind after the credits roll.
I agree.
I played Silent Hill games, and I enjoyed the movie.
I can't say the same thing to Silent Hill: Revelation.
The director of that abomination should be slapped in the face 44 times.

That's interesting to know you too liked the first one, since you played the game (which I haven't yet). And yes, Revelation I was so excited for, and very disappointed upon watching it.

I'm just now slowly learning to be content with a film, game or book I love and stopping to always want a sequel that I'll like as much - it rarely happens that we get a similar quality experience.

You really should - one of the best horror games.
Play SH 1, 2 ,3 friend, you won't regret!
Unfortunately the first one is not available for PC.

Yes, indeed.
I can't say I'm surprised the second movie sucked.
It was stupidity changing director and other things, why change something which was doing good?
Konami likes seeing SH fans with torches in hands, apparently.
With the cancellation of Silent Hills, I think it's the end of the franchise.

Completely agree, though I didn't like 3 anywhere near as much as I did 1 or 2. Felt too...clostrophobic to me.

there was a port of 4 for pc as well

and konami is busy with a long slow suicide march in to irrelevance
Because the most important aspect of games, game play itself, is pretty damned difficult thing to turn into something as static as a movie experience. It doesn't matter how good controls Super Mario has, as that is one aspect that doesn't translate to a movie.
