Catshade: So...just heard from another forum that Interstate 76 is less arcade-y (or, as they put it, 'mechwarrior with cars') than other vehicular combat games (Carmageddon, Twisted Metal et al.). Is that true?

There are no pedestrians, and very few races, so it's really nothing like carmageddon. They just happened to both come out around the same time and feature cars with weapons. Personally i tried Twisted Metal after i76 and i thought it was a joke.
i76 is more like x-wing / tie-fighter in a car. It's more of a sim, in that the damage to all your systems and sides is modelled, and between missions you get a limited amount of time to repair them. Plus you have to balance your armour and weapon weights, etc..
It essentially has the same pros and cons as x-wing games.
I'd guess the main flaw is that the enemy driver AI isn't that smart and occasionally gets hung up on the level geometry... and battles can sometimes turn into turning circles (which is kind of the same as x-wing, but a little more obvious on a flat plane).
Then again, when I'm caught up in a battle with 3 cop cars I've been known to drive right off a cliff... so my AI isn't that hot either.
A large part of the appeal is the style. 70's cop tv show meets mad max.

I was gonna buy Interstate '76 anyway, but you wanted me to want it more. Man I remember all of those countless days we spent playing the game in LAN parties, such great memories.
I just remembered. Didn't it have a Poem button? Press P and taurus makes up a poem for you?
Or possibly I've been drinking too much...

Gamefaqs says it was a cheat code. Press Ctrl + Shift and type "freelance."
Tuesday's was awesome. Now what might we get on Thursday? Only that I76 game or also another one? I'd love Pharaoh Gold.

I see a tendency here. With the exception of Arcanum, all Activision games released in the "month of Activision" are part of a series.
This makes me think they're showcasing what to except from this deal, thus II suppose it'll be "only" I76 Thursday, and we'll get other parts of the series already presented at later dates.
Fingers crossed for the whole city builder series!!!
Well, seems we only get I76 today. Let's hope for next Tuesday. :-)
If you check the Month of Activision part of the website on the homepage, you'll probably notice that the 'coming soon' section has been reduced from 4 - 5 to 2 - 3 titles. So, I guess we've got three more games at most coming for now.
Going to pass on Interstate. I find football and driving games etc. (same with flight sims) hard to control with the keyboard and mouse. Only bought Freespace due to the Interplay promo ages ago. I'm sure it's a good game though and hope everyone enjoys it.

is it that time again?
I bet it's another adventure game. Police/King's Quest, maybe?

Michagogi23: is it that time again?

I'm waiting already, too. Unfortunately there was no game for me so far in the month of Activision. I hope there won't be an adventure game this time, I would like a simulation, shooter or strategy game for a change.
I my self hope its Zeus.I remember it being a fun game.
I lost many a day to playing Zeus.

Catsahde, don't you go crazy just having to wait one more day because they're a day behind?

That would be great. But I don't think so, since they just released Caesar III.
Hopefully it's a big fat strategy title, or a chewy FPS.
Gimme Zeus or the one set in China though and i will be one happy bunny.
