Die Hard
Life of Brian

Not terribly original and both have been mentioned already.

Also, a holiday tradition for me is to put the Lord of the Rings trilogy on back-to-back for a whole day and let them all play through. I don't watch the entire thing, I just use it as background noise and it's great, because you can all sit and watch your favourite bits (everyone grabs snacks for Helm's Deep).

Merry Christmas :)

Critters and Tremors would be my Holiday movies :)

Not based on Christmas...........Oh, well :)
Not based on Christmas....or any other holiday! :P

Still, I do cherish them both.
I see alot of terrible choices for a Christmas movie. Christmas movies should make you feel good.

1. Emmet Otters Jugband Christmas.
2. Santa Claus The Movie.
3. All the old Rudolf stop motion films.

There are three movies I watch every year around Christmas:

The Muppet Christmas Caro
Little Lord Fauntleroy
It's a Wonderful Life

Foxhack: Santa Claus.

In its original Mexican Spanish edition. It's trippy as balls.

tinyE: That's the one with the Devil isn't it. XD

MST3K did that.
I know.

I saw their treatment. I saw the US edition. It's not even close to being as weird as the original release.

tinyE: No love for "Santa Clause Conquers the Martians"? :P
Is it the MST3K version? :)

*sigh*, I have to stop responding to older posts first, shame on me.

OK, already duplicated from others on this list, the ones that I watch when I get to see them:

A Miracle on 34th Street
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (Rankin & Bass)
Santa Claus is Coming to Town (Rankin & Bass)
Frosty the Snowman (Rankin & Bass)
Twas the Night Before Christmas (Rankin & Bass)
A Charlie Brown Christmas
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Dr. Seuss)
A Christmas Story
Emmet Otter's JugBand Christmas
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Jingle All the Way
Bad Santa

Believe it or not, I have *not* to this day, seen "It's a Wonderful Life", although I've only caught bits and pieces of it along the way. *sigh*

The Fir Tree by Huntingwood Films.

Based on Hans Christian Andersens "Det Lille Grantræ"

A little part of the original voiced version:

If more people watched this the world would be a better place. :)

tinyE: One more

Raging Rudolph
haha! brilliant!

also, a nice topic!
I ordered Hogfather from amazon, a used copy was about $2, thanks for the tip!

for me so far I'm starting a tradition of watching The Fearless Vampire Killers.
Wish there was more stuff like this: a nice visual style, and there's no punchlines, just cool humor!
Mr. Kokol! What are you doing to me! Please! Mr. Kokol!
also what's cool is the Innkeeper fellow is called Chagall, and looks a bit like The Father painting by Marc Chagall :)

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Home Alone
I just realised my favourite movie is also a christmas movie, it just didn't register with me as a christmas movie because I watch it all year round.

Let me give a big recommendation for Tokyo Godfathers.

That is a great movie! I had almost forgot about it.
If you liked you might try Wings of Honeamise although it's not a Christmas movie.
