I do like both GOGer and GOGlodyte and I think having both is better to have diversity.

Treasure: I haven't bought Witcher 3, since I haven't even played the 1st one yet, so I don't know about this W3 problem
Well, I did get the impression that my problems were completely unique and no one else had ever had such issues. I thought perhaps I'd tweaked Windows so much that I broke something... but even after reinstalling everything, the patches still failed. Maybe there was something wrong with the patches, maybe it was my PC. We'll never know.

The multiple DOSBox thing definitely isn't just me though, but it's kind of a non-issue for me since I would in fact prefer to unpack the installers and put the files wherever I like, as you suggested. At one point I planned to just unpack all my DOS games (250 of them, last time I counted) and put them on an external hard drive. Unfortunately weeding out the unnecessary files from that many directories turned out to be a bit complicated. I guess it was a silly plan anyway. :-P
Maybe if GOG were to provide an alternative download for geekier users that only included the bare necessities in an archive... but that's not going to happen.
my only beef with downloading stuff is that the bin files are now in 3.9 Gbs increments instead of 1.5 gb ones (which increases the possibility for my lousy internet connection to screw up)
Wouldn't GOG.com Downloader/LGOGDownloader help with this?

Anyway, that's probably enough derailing for one thread. Back on topic...

To me "GOGlin" and "GOGlodyte" just sound silly rather than condescending, but I suppose it's a fair point - the difference between endearing and condescending isn't that big. That said, there are quite a few goblins around here...
