HereForTheBeer: Drove from a place about an hour south of Louisville, KY, up to Cincinnati yesterday. A bit rainy and traffic sucked, but the autumn leaves are in prime color right now so it was quite beautiful driving through the hills. I thought I was going to miss the big color change back home while out of town this week, but am simply catching it down here, instead.
As someone who lives in Cincinnati, I attest to the gloom. The autumn leaves are wonderful but the dreary skies plus all the ebola news give the whole city this weird, sort of apocalyptic vibe.

Get out to the hills this weekend and enjoy the scenery. Quite pretty out there. That might chase the Ebola Blues away.
Here's a nice follow-up to my post in the "Bitch About Life in General" thread:

Just received news today that I have been un-fired from my job! To make things even better, my wife will be starting a new job on Tuesday! What started out as a seemingly very bleak few weeks has surprisingly undone itself in the most amazing and pleasantly surprising way. Things will still be a bit strained until the paychecks starting coming in again, but at least that day is not as far off as we thought it was.

This is a huge relief as both of our birthdays are coming up soon and Christmas won't be far behind. To add a bit more of a post script to my original gloomy thread, I also was able to purchase Shadowgate after all. Oh, happy day! ^_^
I got my first Loot Crate today. By the way, I have a topic about this, but does anyone here play smite. Ill leave a link to the thread,

My friend confirmed we are going to continue our co-op Gears of War session during the weekend. She usually visits me during a week after work, so this time we will have a lot of time to chill out. Time to refresh my memory how to bake a quiche and test a friend's guacamole recipe for nachos rancheros :).
Seeing a few votes for Hatred in the community wishlist.

Had to google right away... Awsome if the the game is any good. But of all Cinenaware titles nothings beats ICftD.
Tommy Boy was on tv this evening. I've seen this movie a billion times, but it still makes me laugh. Ah, sometimes it is the little thing, you know?
gaming is a way to quench the pain of living (making happy is a big word, but at least it comforts me)
This is pretty stupid... But it hit me just right today.
Just for kicks, I decided to read some Steam user reviews for Sniper Elite. It wasn't really a single review that made me laugh, but the contrast between the top two "most helpful" reviews. (Both recommended the game, BTW.)

The first review is pretty much an 11-paragraph long memoir of the person's childhood, how personal the game is to them, and basically giving an outline of their entire gaming history. They talk about how much they love it, how it was mind blowing, and how they played it over and over again.

After spending about two minutes reading the very lengthy first review, I scrolled down to the second review, which was one simple sentence...
"Shot a guys balls off."

It was the first really good laugh I've had in a few days, and I've smiled every time I've thought about it today.
Working on my brother's roof yet again today (The Project That Would Not Die!) I managed to screw up a rib, burnt a finger with hot ice and water shield (modern-day tarpaper), and also burnt the meaty part of my other hand down below the thumb. A bit painful it was.

But I bowed out around 4pm because I remembered that we're putting three of the vehicles into winter storage soon, and I had to take each of them to the gas station to fill them up before the insurance switches over tomorrow. RX7 went first, followed by the MR2, and lastly the motorcycle. Just two miles total on each of them today but it was a perfect last day of riding. Got on the bike and forgot about the ouchies, even though I spent more time putting on gear than it took to get to the gas station and back. I thought about selling it because the wife sold her bike a couple weekends ago, and also because my back has been less-than-reliable. But screw it. Getting on makes me happy and that's that.
