sunshinecorp: There's a guy that actually wrote a paper on Primer. The timeline is really, really messed up. I thought I had untangled it on my third viewing. But I hadn't.

chevkoch: I have to admit I got lazy with that one and just went and read theories on imdb.
There's a definitive timeline cheat-sheet that I finally had to look at while viewing the film a fourth time. :) Some of it I had figured out, some of it I would have probably never even think of.
Today was made all kinds of good by being able to gift a very good friend the Night Dive bundle upon learning she'd signed up for Steam. I'm not a huge Steam fan, but it was well worth it to spend a few dollars and be able to surprise her with a bunch of games she'd played years before, or had wanted to play, and enjoyed (and in the case of The 7th Guest, LOVES).

So, yeah; making old friend very happy = me happy. :)

I gave a whole new life to our old cheapo Huawei Ideos X5 (U8800) Android phone (it cost something like 99€ three years ago):

- I found a shop which sold new batteries suitable for it (the original battery blew up a year ago). Thank god it doesn't have integrated battery like some lesser phones (iPhone).

- Today I successfully installed the newest (unofficial) Cyanogenmod Android for the device, upgrading its Android version straight from 2.3.5 to 4.4.4. The upgrade was quite tricky with many many steps (e.g. the whole filesystem needed to be reallocated (with BlePart) because by default there was not enough room in /system for Cyanogen ROM; ClockworkMod didn't work at first (I had to replace it with TWRP Recovery, and later with a newer version of CWM) etc. But finally I nailed it, I'm a bit surprised I didn't manage to brick the phone.

Wow, this feels like a new phone now. I just need to replace the small 2GB microSD card with a 16GB one (from my old Nokia phone), and this will be my primary phone for awhile, at least until my employer gets me a new Nokia Lumia phone.

I just wish Google navigation had better offline capabilities, that's actually why I'm looking forward to the Lumia phone, as my navigator phone (HERE maps has great offline capabilities AFAIK, just like the old Nokia Ovi Maps). Fully working offline mode is a must for me when I am navigating abroad, the map caching feature of Google navigation is not enough.

I beat two bank accounts into submission (they're not happy, but they balance) this morning. Yay, 20 days before I'll have to think about doing it again! [Hopefully the general ledger will be more cooperative next month.]
Happy, mixed with feelings of ambivalence.

The weather is nice today and I pulled out the motorcycles to give them a shower. They look really nice all cleaned-up and bug-free.

And ambivalent because I cleaned them up to take photos so I can put them up on Craigslist. The wife said she never really took to riding like I did so she wants to sell hers, and I don't particularly love to riding by myself. Still haven't decided if I'm going to post them or not; maybe I'll keep both for myself and ride alone anyway.

I found out earlier today that my mother's recent cancer scare was just that, a scare. Maybe the fates figured that since she beat it twice they should stop

The weather, in one evening, went from summer to fall, so I'm happy. Autumn is my favorite season.

Bought Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Very happy with that.

Since I drink beer at least once a week, I had recently been thinking that maybe I should try something that has fewer calories. Without doing any research, I bought Miller 64 yesterday. Was not aware that the alcohol content was ridiculously low. Had four cans last night and didn't feel a thing. Boo. But today I went back to my usual - Natural Ice - and at 5.9%, it does give me a buzz, so that makes me happy.

Went to the library today and bought a book about cats that my gf actually seems to be reading, so that makes me happy. Also picked up four books that I should enjoy.

I'm glad to hear that your mother is okay and that it was just a scare. It must be a big relief for her and for the rest of your family. Hopefully the fates have indeed opted to stop, especially if she has already beaten cancer twice.

Do you have kids? Could they have their own tiny motorcycles so that the whole family could go cruising? :)

As awesome as that would be... no kids for us. You might have heard the planet giving a sigh of relief the day we decided to stop trying. XD

Yes, I just found something to be happy about, thank you thanksforthebeer. I don't add up to the perpetual growth of the population. The buck stops here.

Glad I found at least something to be happy about on this stressed day, even if it's a cheap takeover. Some days you'll have to make do with small things.
As juvenile as it may sound, waking up to a text from my crush saying good morning.
This is really silly... I've just been extra miserable over the last week. I haven't been enjoying my favorite games or shows, and haven't been laughing at anything lately.
But then my friend sent me this video - http://youtu.be/Tj-GZJhfBmI
Something awesome happened! Last year I jumped off a table in a classroom and my nokia lumia fell out of my pocket about 2 meters onto the tiled floor. The screen came loose and some of its sensors broke, specifically the one that detects when the phone is close to your head. Apart from that the power button and one of the volume buttons broke. I could still use the phone, but it was very iffy and I had to use the camera button to switch it on. My service provider did not want to fix it for me because I had the phone imported from the UK, since it was way cheaper. I struggled on with the phone for about a year, until the touchscreen decided to give in one day in early August rendering the phone useless. I knew that I now somehow had to repair it if I wanted to keep the phone, but that it would cost a small fortune and that I would lose all of my data. Instead, I borrowed an old phone and hoped that somehow the situation would work itself out. I completely dismantled the phone hoping that there was only a loose connection somewhere, but to no avail.

Fast forward to today. A friend of mine had the exact same phone, and gave it to his parents when he upgraded his phone. The charging mechanism on that phone broke also rendering it useless. Being the awesome dude that he is, he gave his old phone to me with the hope that a cellphone shop could repair mine be harvesting parts from his. Knowing that that would again cost a lot of money, I decided to do it myself and it worked!! All I did was to take my phone's main circuit board and to insert it into my friend's old phone.

attached pic: my old phone dismantled together with the broken circuit board of my friend's old lumia.

On El Rey network (DirecTV 341), Robert Rodriguez is interviewing Quentin Tarantino. F'awesome.
