That is, a genre which when somebody asks you whether you like it you go like this

My 'meh' genre is racing games, and my two favorites are:
Star Wars : Episode 1 Racer
NFS Most Wanted

Most Wanted is god tier! I just loved getting into a chase for an hour (real time)!
I'm meh on Platformer's, but I really enjoyed Mark of the Ninja. Lots of fun :)
rather 'meh' genre: fighting

favourite game: International Karate +
I don't have a "meh" genre. Either I like it or I don't, with a few rare exceptions, depending on the game.

So you'r telling me you label entire genres as meh instead of judging games as individuals ?

[RACISM INTENSIFIES]
I dislike the sports genre
But really like Speedball 2 Brutal Deluxe
(Although calling this a sports title may be pushing it)
i dispise platformers
but i like the original spyro trilogy on the ps1
and mario 64

i dont like shmup's either unless its layer section
Racing: Ballistics (its speed is too niche for GOG)

TPS: Max Payne (1&2) (the only good TPS games ever made are automatically too niche)

Puzzle: Gunpoint (making up an excuse for not selling this is too niche)

Sports: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (consoles are too niche)

RTS: Sacrifice (...good job, but now remove it, it's too niche, didn't you see how poorly it sold?)

I hate the sports genre. But I used to play a lot of NBA Jam, NBA Live '95 and Sensible Soccer. I have no interest in basketball or football (soccer for you americans) but those games, they were too much fun with friends. Also, for some reason back in the early 90s I used to play a full-text, no-graphics football manager. I have no idea why, because the theme is so dull for me, bores me more than playing football. But that manager, can't remember the name, was actually an ingenious strategy game. So good in fact, that I could see past the theme!
I strongly "meh" (or even, most of the times I actually dislike) JRPGs, yet I found Lost Odyssey to be a great game.
Meh for me is racing as well, puzzle, sports, platforming(2D) and also (3D) Platforming kinda of Adventure Genre.

Racing:
Star Wars Episode I Racer
Midnight Club(Felix de house cat silver screen when you are going over 200km a hour in a city with traffic!)
Can we consider Carmageddon A racing game cuz I also enjoy it?

Plataforming(2D)
jazz jackrabbit 2

Plataforming(3D)/Action/Adventure
Beyond Good and Evil
Disney's Tarzan videogame (cool progression, level design and very fucking hard on N64(probably the reason I vomit games like Dark Soul today.... Took me years to beat and rereach the final mission)

One of my 'meh' genres is platformers. They were cool in the 1980s, but it's 2016.

My favourite (recent) game in the genre would be Trine/Trine 2. Where by "favourite" I mean they're the only platformers that got me interested to even try them, and I enjoyed both games.

Absolutely! Goddamn first person shooters and racing games and their privileged status. I propose SDE, or Strategy-Development-Empowerment which requires a developer to spend at least 50% of its time developing strategy games. If the do, then they are SDE complaint, and if they don't then we boycott their games.

You've got one of those one-word-a-day booklets don't you? :)
By the way what do mean with Max Payne comment?

Oh yeah, those long chases were the best :) My favorite place to lose the coppers was in the stadium and, I think it was a college campus. They usually lost you in there.

Me too, and for a long time until I tried out Chronotrigger. Now I'm thinking I should try some of the other classics as well.

Whatever it is, it's great! Except for the car's handeling, which I've never understood. It's like you're driving on the moon, or your tires have very little grip.
