What is your favorite game of all time?

And to those who can't pick just one...

... I'll give you up to two runners up. ;)
So is this the third, fourth or fifth thread with this title.

Cannot remember what I answered the previous times but right now I feel like it is Independence War II: Edge of Chaos what with the spanking new fan patch that fixes the two most annoying mission breaking bugs in the game.
If it's limited to one title...

So mine is Half Life
Do birds count? If yes then pheasants and quails are quite tasty. Not a fan of boars or deers honestly.

My top 2 is The Secret of Monkey Island and Civilization IV. Which one comes first depends on my daily mood.
Robotron: 2084
Civilization 2
Doom

What can I say... the boards are slow. ;)

As far as my favorite game...

It would be...

... Dragons' Dogma Dark Arisen.

Atmosphere, world-design / art direction, difficulty, party-management, scaling enemies, etc... it just all worked for me (although it's not a perfect game).

If I had runners up...

... God of War (2016)

and... probably...

... Mafia II.

It's weird that I would have 2 fantasy games in my favorites because my first inclination has always been toward historical war games or dramatic games based in history (ie Westerns, Depression era, etc.), but DDDA and GoW really affected me for various reasons... and opened my mind to fantasy worlds that I hadn't explored since reading LoTR in high school.

Well, I'm not a stickler for absolute rules... (so if you want to add more...)... I just didn't wanted giant lists. ;)

Anything that's gamey. ;)

Those Monkey Island games sure see a lot of love. Maybe one day...

Although it's very difficult to choose one favorite game of all time, I pick Starcraft. Last year, I played it once again using an old XP machine and it amazed me how great the game still is. It's so much fun and exciting. It's quite addictive really, for I couldn't stop playing it until the end of Broodwar. I would replay several stages dozens of times just for the sake of trying new strategies and tactics. And I finally managed to reach the secret level, Dark Origin. Time just flies when you're engaged in such a masterpiece. SC is a true classic!
uh... Urban Chaos: Riot Response
is one of my all time favorite
Does a favorite game of all time have to be something that you can play forever without taking any breaks?

If yes, then my answer would be Mount & Blade: Warband. There was a time when I would be playing this game for hours. But now, going for the same amount of hours would just make it feel more like a chore tbh. That said, why I still think that this game is my favorite game of all time is the fact that I would keep returning to this game after some time.

Dark Souls.

Runner up: Final Fantasy VI, Phantasy Star IV
Favorite: Neverwinter Nights.

Runner Up: all games involving cats
For me there is only Witcher 3.
My answer is still Thief. In my opinion nothing ever came close to it, in all regards and especially in sound design.
Well, it would have to be (for me) a game that I would never get bored of, and there are two games that currently fit that criteria, Settlers 2: Gold Edition and Craft the World. And seeing as I have played Settlers 2 the most, and the longest, it would have to be that, with CtW coming in a close second...
