ET3D: Sadly there seem to be a lot more guys who aren't getting their desired level of domestic violence.

Sex >> violence in my book, so virtual sex >> virtual violence.
Hmm, judging by the games I play most I'm not getting nearly enought weird dialogue, puns and strange puzzles at home.

I guess I should try to use more objects around me with other objects and see what happens... anyone know where I can get a cout with infinitely deep pockets?

I've been lacking too much virtual violence these days eh...

MichaelFurlong: having pronography plastered over the front page REALLY does not help in creating an environment that I want to share with friends and family.
And i'll assume having grim guys wielding large blades of death, or having huge guns is better? Or a cutesie group of 4 heroes wielding weapons intended for death and destruction as well...

Most games are violent and/or sexy, unless you go with something like triple town...

MichaelFurlong: As someone who's trying to get my sister and niece into playing some gog games together, having pronography plastered over the front page REALLY does not help in creating an environment that I want to share with friends and family.

I hope this is a one-off. If people want to play sex games, that's fine, but I don't want my 8 year old niece to see this on her first day on GOG.
Heh, I share your concerns. Since Lula's now plastered on the front page with that obvious girl that is obviously looking like a hooker, what am I supposed to say when my 11 year old sister sees me casually browsing GOG's front page? I love GOG to the death and I don't want my sis to see this on GOG.
Yeah, I agree. For steam though, this trend has been going on for quite sometime now, but not lately. Especially in the free-to-play section, they have many of those anime style girls visual novels in their list. Not that I'm disagreeing with this and trying to change the direction of this conversation, but steam has been adding low rated games on their free-to-play games list. I mean, wow.

If your child isn't a teenager or older then they really, really shouldn't be on the internet by themselves. That goes for everywhere online.

But even as a kid, I knew better than to go on places that weren't designated for my age or I was going to see some things I didn't like.

Complaints about GOG are so damn laughable. . I'm sorry, but you niece and you're afraid she'll see breasts... by the time she should be able to buy things here, she is aware she has breasts and what they look like. >.>

Also, all this talk about men being horny. Men liking these games. ....miiight wanna look at just who buys porn, especially when it comes to animated, VNs, and games. Quite a few pervy ladies like myself go for them.

I wonder why your 8 yo niece has to come to GOG in the first place... You can't select good games for her or for your sister by yourself?

It's an honest question, not a criticism. But letting an 8-yo surfing on GOG is to me as irresponsible as letting a youngster play GTA 5... Because you say you don't want titties plastered everywhere in the front page of GOG, but would you be okay with guns plastered everywhere ?
Steam isn't exactly cream of the crop. Don't get all great games.. a lot of crap makes it there and makes it a lot harder to find the actual stuff worth your time and money.

Honestly, I don't think Lula's title card looks much worse and more hooker-ish than some stuff meant for 11 year old girls (maybe it's just me, but I always get an uncomfortable vibe from these). Every pop music video has more explicit stuff in it now then that title card. I really don't think seeing something like that flash by somewhere on the site is going to be that shocking to her.

Tell her the truth: dress like that and you'd get the attention of boys.

The one for Lula isn't bad at all. That's fairly common in the South ( born and raised in Southern US, married a Norwegian and came back with him ).

The Monster High girls don't show off much skin as Lula's title card.
There should be an option to display SFW games only on the storepages. So people can turn it on if they're browsing at work / with family and people who don't mind can have it off.
The hentai game invasion of Steam is nothing new. AFAIK there was Go Go Nippon on Steam for fair amount of time. I welcome the tide. If Valve allows games like Slaughtering Grounds or Batman :AK to be sold; I don't see why stop there; and I mean it in a good sense.

Aaah! Skin! Take it away, take it away! It's evil and unnatural! Begone, foul creature!

Sexualisation of women is very common and it's everywhere. The reduction of men to violence givers and receivers isn't as pervasive, and isn't as real.

I would also be uncomfortable with front-pages showing kill shots of the more gruesome games out there.
Trine or defender's quest may contain violent themes but it's abstracted and doesn't convey the same message as young girls seeing women everywhere reduced to sex objects.
