Hi, I'm a level 230 on steam with over 2500 games[V-a-a-N]. But, I'm getting pretty sick of steam. Pretty much due to how much it does not trust me overall.

I had a account with GOG but never took it serious till about 3 days ago. I got about 100 games during the sale. I was wondering what happens to the remaining EXP that we get from mostly purchasing during the sale.

Thanks for ya time.

Did you read the FAQ for the sale? There's a link to it on the page. I'm pretty sure it's only for the sale and that ends in a couple weeks. But do read up on it for yourself, maybe there's something I missed.

XP on here is NOTHING like it is on Steam. This is basically a gimmick for the sale that they JUST came up with.
All it does is get you certain games depending on how much you gather. The extra does nothing.

If you want an easier way of understanding it, think of it like this:
Spend $5, you get Spelunky for free.
Spend $15, you get Gabriel Knight for free.
Spend $30, you get Dreamfall Chapters for free.
That's it. There is literally nothing else to it.
As said above, just a temporary thing.
GOG accounts do not (currently) have a level.
Not even sure if they're planning to implement a similar feature.

I just checked it again. I don't think it says anything about the remaining amount of EXP.

Does it just vanish? Does it count towards the next sale?

If it just vanishes, and does not do anything then does that mean buying more games is not a smart thing to do not unless maybe the sale?

Thats a let down. But, hey at least DRM free.

Welcome along. While not perfect (are any stores?) this is a good place for your gaming hobby. Enjoy the DRM-free goodness.

The FAQ doesn't appear to come right out and say but I assume they go <poof!> in a cloud of smoke once the sale is over. gOg don't have something like 'points' you collect over the years for future purchases, and I don't recall there being any other sale where the gimmick carried over once the sale was finished. Which is fine by me: the giveaways and sale prices are enough of a discount.

If they do I just hope its not like Steam with the cards BS. Just make it based on how many games bought on GOG or the price in which you bought the game orrrrrr based on how good you are at how many games.

VaaNFM: Does it just vanish?
Pretty sure it's this here.
As I said, it's just another sales gimmick. Y'know the whole "pay X amount of dollars, get X game" thing I mentioned? They've done that before in the past, except now they inserted an XP number as a means of attempting to get you to follow the steps for the "free XP", which involves promoting them by sharing the sale on Facebook or checking out their features or watching their Twitch stream. Clever piece of marketing for the unobservant, really.

I really, REALLY hope you weren't spending money just because you were trying to farm XP....
But hey, look at it this way: The value is in the games you got and the discounts you got them at.

I really doubt they'll implement any sort of level feature. The whole concept of it seems a little silly to me, and no doubt to most other GOG users, and I have a feeling that they'd receive a decent amount of backlash if they attempted to implement it.

Its sale is ok but the DRM free. In otherwords, GOG trusts me more than steam. Just really makes me feel like my money is going to the right place.

Just hoping they don't go the way of steam and no longer makes games and the cards BS.
