Radiance1979: and the games are available for about a month?
avatar
MysterD: You have to pay per month to stick around.

About how long a game will be on the service - It's whatever the contract & agreement is. Some games like Vampyr, they were there for months...before they left.

Usually, every month...there's an article on Microsoft's Xbox Pass page to let you know what is coming and when; and what is leaving.

Microsoft's own 1st party games seem like they're always be there.
Oke more like a netflix subrscription then... i get the point, maybe i'll give it a go but, to be honest i have a hard time with going through my library as it is

For example, i did some testing on different aspect ratio's and how much performance loss or gains i had and suddenly i found myself caught up in total war warhammer 2 again :)

Brettonia this time, one of their ladies. I am familiar with their playing style which i enjoy but not particular with this heroine from that mythical place called Lyonesse. Lyonesse is already wiped away from existence, almost 14 weeks of travel away from this point, The coast of Arabia so without any clue what happenend there. The starting difficulty, the addition of sacks of water for desert travel and the new knightly vows system actually got me interested enough to see what will happen during this journey. This piece of land is riddled with vampires and tomb kings ( basically the same thing, undead ) and i feel pretty secure now with allieing myself with the other knights who send out expeditions ( blue on the accompanied cartograph, so not a screenshot in any right ;) ) gained a large castle on the vampires and fitted with a bit of joi de vivre in general ( though i really had a worst night of sleep )

dtgreene: Actually, it appears that the only way to get armor for Wren is to buy it; he doesn't start with any, and there aren't any to be found in chests anywhere in the game.

In any case, he isn't really dying that often, and I have unlimited full revives (thanks to that Force Vest), so he's actually been OK without any. Also, he is at least wearing a helmet, as you do find those in chests. It also helps that he has the most HP.

(Also, is "he" the correct pronoun? The message when Wren transforms uses the pronoun "it".)

Radiance1979: i don't know the game... name sounded masculine... looked the character up, concluded i was right in calling it him since it is designed as a male... with a female body since those have the maximum joint flexibility... handpalms head several times with both hands....
Well, you probably need to look at the Japanese version for the definitive answer here.

Unfortunately (for this purpose), Japanese doesn't do pronouns the way English does. You can sometimes tell a character's gender from how they speak, but Wren probably doesn't have enough dialog for this to be apparent; the messages that use the "it" pronoun to refer to Wren likely have no pronoun at all in the original Japanese.

(I could also point out that the town of Hazatak seems to have both male and female cyborgs, all Wren type.)

the wiki contained some texts from a book or interview done with the female designer or artist responsible for Wren. the wiki uses, he, pointing out it is a male cyborg who choose to have a female body since that had to his logic the most benefits. Cyborg is by definition a merge of human and machinery so the he should apply

LASER97: Bioshock 2 - Someone needs to explain to me why this game is considered inferior to the original, when the combat, encounter design, and level design were all significantly improved. What am I missing?
Gameplay, combat, and variety of enemies was better in Bio2 base-game, but that was about it.

To me - the storytelling, writing, characters, and tons of re-used assets really here just didn't do it for me in Bioshock 2 base-game, if we're comparing it to the original Bioshock. Sure, it was fine and all - but Bioshock 1 did all of this stuff better. WAY better.

Plus, Bioshock 1's twist - and if you know the game, you know what event I'm talking about - is one of the best twists and turns ever in gaming.

Bioshock 1 also felt fresher and newer - while Bio 2 felt more like a stand-alone expansion. Yes, Bio2 is very good - but man, Bioshock 1 is legendary. Bio1 is on a whole another level to me.

Also, Bioshock 2: Minerva's Den is an excellent DLC. I also enjoyed how really personal the story felt, too - as I thought it was more interesting than what Bio2's base game had going on.

Regardless, the whole entire Bioshock franchise is excellent overall & insanely consistent. It's an easy recommendation from me.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena - I'm playing this one after finishing Escape from Butcher Bay last week. I gotta say I'm enjoying this one more. It has more stealth moments and the story seems to be more focused.

If it's fine for you, why worry?

I recently played through all three, but I can only speak for myself:
1) In the first game Rapture felt to me like more like a real, lived in place. In the second it felt more like levels of a game that's set in Rapture. Also some of the new mechanics - while being fun - make the game, well more game-y costing some immersion.
2) BS1 has lots and lots of memorable moments that spring to mind as soon as I think about it. BS2 - not so many. Although the second game gets really better towards the end with some amazing design that rivals the original. Minerva's Den is pretty good too.
3) The story in the first has IMO way more impact. The second's is not bad and also gives you some stuff to think about, but it's not as intense. The ending is very good though.

Toxic's so on the money on this, IMHO - especially #2 and #3.

Man, I've had Dark Athena forever from retail and on GOG.

I loved old version of Butcher Bay, so I really should check out the new Dark Athena portion of the game.

I have the game on my GOG account from 2012 and never played it until now!!

Never played the original version of Butcher Bay, but from what I gather the one that comes with Dark Athena is exactly the same but with better visuals.

Butcher Bay (original) is awesome.

Yeah, I've heard the Butcher Bay Remaster in Dark Athena collection is awesome, with the improved visuals and remastering. Not like that game needed much improvement anyways, as it was already awesome - but improved coat of paint and visuals always help.

I still need to get around to the Dark Athena new content, that portion of the game. I should make it a point to get there - but so much backlog already, newer stuff to play, and any stuff in W10's Xbox for PC Game Pass is causing me to mostly play that stuff.

I know that feeling, I too have a huge backlog. It took me 8 years to start playing the Riddick games!!

But if you loved Butcher Bay, you'll definitely love Dark Athena.
I'm getting to the end of Phantasy Star 3, and have started planning a longer playthrough (Sean route). The problem, however, is that PS3 isn't the sort of game I can just replay back to back and not get tired of it.

In other words, I need another game to play in between, preferably one that is not similar to PS3.
Now, where did i leave that damned car?

System Shock 2 was also more gamey than Bioshock 1. Immersion doesn't excuse bland level design and mechanics IMO.

The story in BS1 didn't do much for me personally. Even so, I'd much rather have enjoyable gameplay over a good story.
