Themken: I hate complicated key combos to pull off combos so hopefully I will not need anythig like that. All SW games recieved from mass giveaways so cannot complain too much :-) Dancing away from the enemy is fun though :-)

The music from the old game is parked on my mobile and is a favourite album and has been since it was given away.
They're not complicated. More like "Hold mouse button, left-right-forward (A, D, W), release mouse" iirc.

Good to hear :-)

Themken: I certainly am a N00B at that kind of games as I have never played anything like them (DOS FPS). Teaching my right hand to move like needed in those games would take serious training at my age. Not sure I have the interest when there are so many games I enjoy as is. Give my right hand a mouse or a joystick and I am skilled though.
I'm the exact opposite. I have never used joysticks or console controllers, so I can hardly fathom using them to play. I'm highly dependent on the keyboard, which is strange because I suck at remembering hotkeys.

Thank goodness for WASD. When I first started playing the Build engine games, I used either the arrow keys or mouse movements to move. WASD was perfect, especially since A and D made strafing a breeze.

Currently mostly playing borderlands 2, Septerra Core, Enclave, red dead redemption 2 in terms of singleplayer and counter strike source, titanfall 2 and wurm unlimited in terms of multiplayer. And I'm trying to play icewind dale but its either having glitches so bad that it's not really playable or won't start at all doesn't matter what I do :(((

For IWD the modding community might have fixes for that.
I started playing Myst again, the original Mac release (or close enough to the original anyway, it runs on a 68k CPU). Damn, 640x480 is tiny on a 27" screen doing 2560x1440. Wonder if I'll be able to get into Selenitic Age this time? I remember I didn't when I played it several years ago, even with a walkthrough. No, I'm not using a walkthrough now, and I don't remember the solutions either - parts of it, but not much. Stuck in Stoneship Age at the moment, trying to figure out what to do next - don't help me unless I ask for it.

As for Half-Life 2, I'm just before the bossfight. Might actually finish one or two games this year.

Funny how this goes. I grew up with joysticks (Commodore 64, Amiga...) and first played FPS with M+K with Doom. And I still have trouble with gamepads which I came to very late.

You forgot maps....can't forget hand drawn maps.

(Using vellum for authenticity is, of course, optional)

Yes, those too.

Themken: Yes, those too.
But in all seriousness I remember some games need maps to not lose track of one's location.....like when I had to make some for when I played a bit of Eye of the Beholder.

GameRager:
That was standard with those old RPGs. I am lazy and just search for a map on the internet but did not have that option twenty or thirty years ago.
Paused Yakuza Kiwami to finish Dead Space after years of abandon. I have many old games I have never finished that I want to tag as complete. Dead Space is still enjoyable, I think it has aged well, hopefully we are getting the sequels here one day.

When I got my hands on it the internet was a thing but I wanted to do it a bit on my own if I could....fun times(especially those blasted squares that would turn you around or teleport you to other areas).

If you like it i'd recommend getting the 2nd/3rd on console.....I loved them both even with the 3rd's generic weapons/optional microtransactions/locked co-op only(rare though) areas, and the 3rd's DLC is one of the best endings I have ever seen in the genre.

I do that already, short of copying the entire books onto paper.
