kmcoolice: Just installed and played "Return to castle Wolfenstein". Such an old-school gem. I hope other games of Wolfenstein would be added one day to GOG store.
I just hope that these games will sometimes be available in germany... uncut.

But well, you know how they say:
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Wolfenstein (2009) published by Activision, also Wolfenstein: The New Order, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.
Wolfenstein 3D. I am want to comit to finally give closure to such an epic game. In different times throughout my life i have played the game but i have never gone past the first chapter.

So you could say it is my New Year's Resolution

Managing several games right now...

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
I don't know whether I would call this one better than the pervious MachineGames Wolfenstein games just yet, but I am enjoying it. The story is as pulpy as ever, the shooting mechanics feel easier to control, and some of the new additions work. One problem I do have is the game's difficulty, which seems all over the place.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
The combat is clunky and the UI is pretty dated. Beyond that, I can see why this one is so beloved. The world is much more interesting than the worlds of Oblivion or Skyrim, and many of the quests were quite fun. Playing through OpenMW also makes it easy to work on a Mac, and hopefully this project gets more attention.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
This one has a more generic world and main quest, but this one is still my favorite of the series. It has a unique charm the series lost after this game, the guild quests and side quests are completely memorable (with the Dark Brotherhood being my favorite), and the Shivering Isles expansion alone is just wonderfully mad and original. Still discovering new things in this one to this day.

Two Worlds Epic Edition
I got this one on sale, despite all the negative press behind it. The graphics are a bit dated, the story generic, and the voice acting laughable. But the actual gameplay is kind of surprising. It has a fair amount of freedom in its world and gameplay, on top of being relatively stable as of its recent updates. Plus I will admit to enjoying its soundtrack. Overall, not too bad at all.

Two Worlds II
Almost the reversal of the original. The presentation is overall much better (excepting some story contradictions from the first game), but the gameplay feels more restricted and confused. Still not as bad a game as it might be perceived, but it does not feel as enjoyable as the original game, at least to me.

Aaah. That's interesting. Never realized that there is something more than Return to Castle Wolfenstein after the first classics :D Good to know, thanks!

Do me proud! I can't play Wolf 3D anymore since it makes me terribly motion sick.
Just got No Man's Sky in the Steam sale. Not too shabby and quite trippy of a game. It has improved a lot since launch and it's a decent game if you enjoy exploration type games. For 20 bucks it's a very calm and relaxing type of game.
I "finished" Fallout 4 after my return to gaming, by which I mean I completed the main questline and am taking a break. I got the GOTY edition so I have the DLCs to play, but breaks are good after you put 85 hours into a game. O_O

Alternating between GTA5 and Doom (2015) now. Doom is very good, enjoying it a heck of a lot. I really wonder how control pad peeps can play it, the action is so fast and hectic it takes me back to the old days. The console versions must have very generous aim assist. GTA5 is good but it's not grabbing me like the previous ones did for some reason. Maybe just tired of the formula, or maybe the writing has fallen off. Not sure.
Kind of OT. I'm curious about a game I haven't actually played.

Putting aside all of the DRM crap, and with Blizzard there is A LOT OF IT, and all the reviews in print, can anyone and everyone who has ever played Diablo 3 give me a fair assessment of it? How does it compare to 1 and 2? Mechanics? I've heard it was dumbed down, "cartooned" up.

I ask because it is pretty cheap right now and if I'm going to put up with the copious pain of running it, I'd rather do it with a huge discount. :P

I wish I could help you with this, but I haven't played it either! I found out last year that my sister bought the game some time ago, and she handed me the whole box since she finished playing it. "Cool," I thought. But when I brought the box up to my room, I couldn't find the CD anywhere. She must have lost it! So yeah, I've yet to play Diablo 3.

The box never had a CD. This is true.

When you bought the box you got a number. You took that to Battle.net, redeemed the game, and downloaded it.

So that's how it works nowadays? I'll need to try it again, because I tried punching in the code on Battle.net but nothing registered. It worked flawlessly with Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3, so I couldn't figure out what was up.

I haven't played Diablo 3 (my strict no-DRM stance prevents me from), but I did hear about a couple design decisions that change how the game is played:

1. Healing potions are gone, or at least scarce; instead, enemies drop things that restore health on pick-up. (This sounds to me a lot like hearts in the Zelda series.)

2. Skill points aren't permanently spent; instead, the game has the equivalent of an easy free respec, so if you don't like your setup (maybe you just want to experiment a little, or you made a bad decision), you can easily change that. On the other hand, you still can't change your class,
