Summertime Saga :P
Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna

After finishing Gothic, I already started playing Divine Divinity (GOG version), but for some reason I decided to try this game too, just to see finally what it is like. It has been quite awhile since I've played a non-GOG game, especially my older retail games.

Getting it to run on Windows 7/64bit felt like walking on empty egg shells. Installation went fine but when I ran it, I kept getting repeatedly some exception fault errors... but the game still ran. I played it for one or two hours, exited the game... and then it wouldn't run anymore (I just would get those exception faults, the game would never start).

I googled for a solution, quite many instructions mentioned just running the video card selection utility and picking one which does not say "hardware T&L". I did that, still the same problems. Then I tried again... boom, now it works again, and doesn't even give any exception faults. Exited the game, ran it again, fine.

I hope it stays this way too so that I can continue playing the game. :) So far the impressions have been pretty positive, it feels like a streamlined and linear Diablo clone. I like the user interface, it is quite intuitive, you learn as you go.

Then again, I am unsure if the gameplay has enough meat to it, already now it feels repeating itself. I keep killing those low level enemies with my bow as I go, and even if it sometimes tells me something about levelling up, it doesn't really feel like a RPG, as in that I would constantly hunt for XP in order to get better skills. I didn't even notice any change in gameplay after it declared that e.g. my bow skill has leveled up.

Maybe the closest game it reminds me of is Nox. It also felt like a quasi-RPG which sometimes tells me "hey you just levelled up, congrats!", but I don't really feel any difference to the gameplay. I still just run forward killing enemies the same as ever.

Let's see... at least I haven't found any big annoyances in the game yet, but I hope it doesn't become too boring.

Oh and I like the music, at least in the beginning of the game. I think I read the composer is Jeremy Soule, which explains it then.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also have the Steam version, and it actually seemed to run ok out of the box for me (in the Steam message boards many others seem to have issues running it on Windows 7 and later, though). Anyway, since the Steam version is missing the Legends of Aranna expansion, I decided to go with the retail version instead.

Finished Super Mario Odyssey, and working my way through the end game content. Now I'm wondering which game I should get next for the Switch (Fire Emblem Warriors or Mario Kart 8).
Just beat Odallus for the first time only to read that you don't get the true ending unless you get 100 percent of the items. I saw where that last weapons bag was on the mine cart level and thought, "Eh, I don't need another one of those," and moved on at only 98 percent. *sigh* Now I have to track down that stupid thing and beat up that final boss again (all three phases of him) and watch the real ending, I guess.

Edit: And done!

Hand of Fate.

I am on the last King. It may be that this game will be the 256th game I will complete.
Replaying Wizardry Gaiden 3. I am at the point where it's time to start class changing and transition from an early game party to a late game party.

I am currently exploring the dungeon beneath the abandoned village, and have found that that one 6th level alchemy spell that instantly kills weak enemies is really good in this dungeon; even lesser demons succumb to that spell. (For those familiar with Wizardry 1-3, this spell works similarly to MAKANITO.) If only I had more than 4 casts of it (but my former priest is now an alchemist).

(I could point out that the game inherits some of Wizardry 6's balance issues; Valkyries are really good (they level faster than Priests), while Rangers are really bad (slow leveling and limited equipment selection really hurt), and that there's also the problem of needing a Thief (not a thief hybrid) to open locked doors, which I believe I am past.)

Thinking I might try one of the Wizardry Empire games next.
I am alternating between Mortal Kombat X grind (for last Trophy before platinum), Project CARS 1 (where I need 2 more gold accolades to get the platinum) and Final Fantasy Type-0.

Type-0 is actually very interesting concept of a game, but I hate the action combat :( It is kind of overworld map running with FFVII-Crisis Core style missions, and with some added missions, where you are helping your armies to fight against enemy armies in bigger scale conflicts.

Though combat is worse than what I remember from Crisis Core :/ Not looking forward to FFXV, which I have still avoided like a plague, because of the silly shift to gaming as a service model being tested on that game :/
Having had so much fun playing Odallus, I thought it would be fun to go back and play Oniken and...

Uhhhhh, WTF happened?! This game ran just fine when I played it couple of years back but now the game runs ridiculously slow. Have they just not updated it for Windows 10?
Duke Nukem (first one, the 2D platformer) - and now I know there 3D Duke come from! ;)

I just found new funny game Piano Tiles 2 here. At first you just tap the black tiles to the music, avoid touching the white ones, but then you realize that your fingers will have to move at the speed of light! I like to play it at work, when I have short breaks.

Trying some Dwarf Fortress adventure mode and I'm beyond intimidated by the sheer breadth and depth of the game. Unfortunately I'm experiencing a few performance issues with it, at least in towns. Just died when, I think, I accidentally pissed off an elf axe lord or something.

Check if the game has a windowed mode (prefereably a "fullscreen windowed"-mode, I guess). I think Windows 10 has performance issues with many older full-screen games (something about emulating DirectDraw or whatever).

Someone came complaining to me that Geometry Dash (a Steam game) doesn't run as smoothly on his new Windows 10 PC, as it did on his old Windows 7 PC. That was odd because the new PC was more powerful, and the game itself has quite simple 2D graphics. Even i could easily see the difference, on Windows 7 it was glass-smooth (60 FPS probably), while on Windows 10 it seemed it ran at maybe 20 FPS.

However, when I found in the game options a "fullscreen windowed mode", then it ran just as smoothly also on Windows 10.

Failing that, not sure if dgVoodoo helps?

I try to keep in mind robin hood legend and sherwood, ghost master. Good price for motor race 2. So old times comes.
Last night i done firewatch. ;p
Tales from the Borderlands which I got during the last sale for buying Shadow Warrior 2. I'm a bit ambivalent about it. On one hand there is no gameplay to speak of besides that QTEs; even most choices for conversations are timed. On the other hand the story, the humour and the writing is relative interesting.

Yeah, I've tried every visual combination, even shrinking the screen down a x1 window (slightly bigger than a postage stamp) and nothing changes. It's just slow. The cut-scenes are torturous but even the gameplay isn't as smooth as it's supposed to be. I've looked around and saw some complaints on Steam about the issue from a couple of years back but nothing recent that I've found yet...
