Descent Freespace

Since I finished Wing Commander Prophecy + Secret missions earlier, I wanted another space combat "sim" whenever I don't feel like playing Daggerfall or Team Fortress 2. So I've started playing Freespace. I have played Freespace for some missions earlier already many years ago with the retail version, but I started it from the beginning again now.

Playing it in the hardest difficulty. Compared to WC: Prophecy, the controls feel slow and "lazy", it is much harder to stay on enemy's tail and constantly hit them with your guns in Freespace than in WC:P, the enemies also seem to squirm more than in WC:P. Heck, I had to replay the third tutorial mission like 5 times before I was able to destroy all the drones in time (the secret was to use all your missiles to destroy drones faster, no time to only shoot them), and my hull integrity was down to like 10% or so at that point as the enemies really liked to collide into me when they were targeting me.

Also even though the game has an afterburner, apparently it can't be used quite similarly to try to stay on the tail of an enemy as in Wing Commander games, where dogfighting was quite often about the precise and correct usage of the afterburner (which I really liked in Wing Commander games by the way).

I hope I don't get as frustrated with this game as I did with the last missions of Tie Fighter... At the beginning your Freespace fighter doesn't even seem to have any shield yet, so it feels a bit like playing Tie Fighter in a Tie Fighter or Tie Bomber, ie. every enemy hit to your ship brings you closer to death. That's annoying. I hope to get fast to the missions where you finally get recharging shields, I hated those Tie Fighter/Bomber missions in SW: Tie Fighter (or the fact that if you flew a Tie Advanced, you would still die from one single enemy missile).

yoshino: Gothic first playing is on going.
My nameless hero became level 7 and joined the old camp faction.
Finally at last he get a decent armor !
Right now he is clearing monsters( wolf, bee and lizards) in the forest areas around the city,
The entire map in this game is rather small compared to other RPGs such as Skyrim, but quality is very high and I enjoyed exploring it.
Congratulations on playing one of the greatest RPGs of all time. I've put countless hours in Gothic 1 &2, probably half of my teenage years. Those are two very rewarding games.
Crimsonland
Still playing Lords of Xulima. I'm in about 15 hours and already lowered the difficulty to easy as I've had a hard time with the battles. So far i'm really enjoying it, always something to do, monsters to slay, levelling up is frequent and quite enjoyable as is the looting. When I'll do a second run and know what I'm supposed to do, I'll play on hard(er) difficulty.

Also, having watched Band of Brothers recently, today I fired up Company of Heroes for a couple of skirmishes (after a loooong time) and got my ass kicked for good measure. This thing is hard and I've never been good at it. :)

Maxvorstadt: I`m trying to play Divine Divinity, but the difficulty is too ridiculously high, so I think I will stop playing it!
So, how did it went? Did you quit?

DD is one of my favourite games; it's the game that pulled me from Diablo II back then and gave my mouse hand a rest! At times it can be hard, but since it is an open world game, just go somewhere else until you gather enough experience to slay *those* orcs you couldn't kill before. If you stuck in the beginning, just make them follow you and the knight by the gate (can't remember his name) will do the dirty job for you! Hope you'll find a way through the game - later it gets easier. At least for a while. :P

Well, I`ll take a break. I`m thinking bout getting underrail, but I`ll wait untill I get some infos bout the difficulty of this game. :-)
Currently giving GTA V another shot. Played it on the console during release and got bored of it very quick. Bought it during the sale because I wanted to try out the new features. Very disappointing overall so far.

Casually playing through Just Cause 3. The game seems to be quite fun in small doses. I do like the improvements over the last game, like the working stealth mechanic.

Currently burned out of my Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Torchlight II play throughs.

I play Battlefield 4 on the side so I don't get burned out of playing the other games, lose interest and not finish them.

I play Company of Heroes 2 on the side with friends, when they are available to play.

Alright, take your time! I'm thinking about Underrail too, it would be an insta-buy if I hadn't used all my gaming budget on the sales. Anyway, I can wait for a while since I'm already playing a good game right now and some others waiting in the line. I hope Underrail is more on the difficult side though and since I see the word "survival" in the description, I wouldn't like it to feel like a walk in the park.
I started playing Locomalito's latest, Curse of Issyos. It starts out pretty easy, so much so that I started wondering if Locomalito was going soft on us. Ha, no. After cruising through the first few levels, I got to the one in which Talos starts chasing after you and I got my ass kicked. I know how to beat it, so I'll get it next time, but I suspect the rest of the game will keep up the pressure.

Locomalito and Gryzor did their usual exquisite work here. The Ray Harryhausen vibe is really strong.

Yeah, This game(and 2) is amazing.
I should have played this game before, but my old PC couldn't run it well...
Recently I bought a new PC and finally I can play this game.:)

My level 12 nameless hero became a guard of the old camp, and now fighting orcs in the cave.

Just finished a dark side play through of KOTOR 2. Gotta say, even with the restored content mod the Malachor ending is still pretty flat. The whole ending to that game seems so tacked on. Still, a really good game nonetheless.
finished the last challenge in drox operartive and got my ship to level 100. I will continue playing until I unlock the last 5 subraces, though I have no clue what the requirements are.
Playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent. First Amnesia game for me. Played only two hours so far, but I did it right, in complete darkness with headphones on. Pretty intense. The first time I saw a enemy down the hallway I jumped up in my bed. Good stuff!

Ah... fond memories :)
Your old PC must have been really old then, if you could not play Gothic 1 properly - considering it is from 2001 ;)

Meanwhile I have finished Advance Wars and have switched to Advance Wars 2 ;)
The first installment was a refreshing title for the GBA, the second one promises more of the same.

In addition, it seems that I am nearing the end of Shadowrun: Returns - a game with a very intriguing story, but which remains pretty bland gameplay-wise.
I... I just can't stop playing DROD. After finishing Journey to Rooted Hold, I have immediately started The City Beneath!

Also, I'm playing Quest for Glory 2, familiarizing with the city of Shapeir and thieving around before things start to get hot.
I started playing Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion and it's actually good, it's a port from mobile so it kind of fits what i was looking for, turn based strategy but not overcomplicated, the story is ok (a bit cliché but not annoying), the visuals are simple but i do enjoy the artstyle and the combat is ok, it has an option to rotate your troops but it's a bit of a mess because if you have them stacked (2 in line, 3 in line, etc) it doesn't rotate correctly due to the terrain and it can screw you over, the instructions also seem a bit broken, sometimes i click on the square for the troops to move and they don't follow the order, i have to repeat to register the command, it's a bit weird and i will have to search the forum to see if it's something that i'm doing wrong or the game...
