I have been playing Escape From Monkey Island.

toxicTom: I read all the Witcher books last year and the year before and I'm currently re-playing the first Witcher game. I had already finished it some years ago but I must say with the knowledge of the books in the background it's a whole new experience. I know a lot of the characters better and there are quite a few lines quoted directly from the books (like "to mistake the reflection of the stars in a pond for the night sky"). I'm also re-reading the books and I'm currently half-way through the third (Blood of Elves).

kalmis666: You are reading the books in English? Only done that myself, but I see that more of the Witcher books are translated into German than to English.
No, I'm reading them in German. I have the first book (The Last Wish) in German and English and I like the English translation better. I got the whole range of the German books as a present however and so I stuck with them. Also my wife is also reading the books, and her English isn't good enough to read whole books in that language. She gave up on my English Harry Potter editions also.

Klumpen0815: Reading Polish books in English when your own language is something else seems very strange to me.
I read a lot of Haruki Murakami and I only read the English editions. One reason is that the first German editions were not translated from Japanese but from English (there are newer translations directly from Japanese to German).

I usually prefer the English version of non-German/English books/games/movies since often the translation is better (more translators to choose from, bigger market, better budget).

As for The Witcher I find for instance the English translation of vulgarity more fitting. When the English version use "ploughing" (for having sex) the German translation uses "bumsen" (would be "banging" or "screwing" in English) that sounds really plain. Now I would be interested what word the Polish original uses in this place.

Also "Dandelion" sounds a whole lot better than "Rittersporn". (Interesting thing is, the famous bard has a plant's name in Polish, German and English, and each time it's a different plant.)

Somehow this reminds me of this scene from Babylon 5: http://youtu.be/5v2Ti8IoQ_M
Currently playing Banished and South Park: The Stick of Truth.
I've just picked up a 3DS XL for me and my fiancée. I bought Super Mario 3D Land and Bravely Default (the missus is a big Mario fan, and I'm a sucker for well-made JRPGs).

Am enjoying both very much right now, especially 3D Land on the coattails of having completed 3D World on the Wii U. Also took the opportunity at the local flea market today to pick up some old DS games to play on it.
I've spent a few hours today playing Master Reboot, it's an okay game, and has a unique (and likeable) art direction, the story and general gameplay is decent enough as well. I would probably like it a lot more if it wasn't based around trial and error and if the checkpoint/save system was better (IE: if you had the ability to manually save) though.
Stalker Clear Sky (having just previously completed Far Cry 2 - three times)
A little bit of Far Cry 3, now and then.. Feels like a modern Skyrim with the quests, the markers, the chests to open, the relics and plants to collect, the crafting to do, the skills to master, the towers to activate to reveal the map..

But I'm not much a FPS player, and my computer is making heavy noise (fan heat I guess) with this game, so I avoid playing it for long anyway..

Still hooked to Warframe, spent about 20 euros on it overall, rank 9.. Got most of the build I wanted.. Great Free to Play, but boring farming of the mods and some loots end game, unsurprisingly. But again, hooked with the geenral feel and lore, the looks, the pace, Lotus voice, damage digits, clan social life aspect, ect..

I got about 450 games in the backlog so yeah lol.. I foresee just all my warframes at lv 30 and I'll slowly get off it!

Picked up Risen on its release this last weekend. Am not digging it at all. I've played the earlier Gothic titles. I should've known better. Risen is so... bland. Boring factions, constant repetitive enemy fights, weak story and voice acting... I feel like I'm playing The Witcher all over again. It's going to be a real struggle to get through it.
nothing :( I want to play something but I don't know what :P

Play 99 Levels to Hell, because it's fun.

...or just randomly pick something out of your collection if you haven't got it.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll be sure to check it out more closely :) I think though that I might start with my long journey with the Myst series...
that or I should buckle down and try to finish Theme Hospital :P

edit : in fact looking at 99 levels to Hell reminds me of another old foe of mine that I still want to finish : Montezuma's revenge!

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified

It has a strong sense of Mass Effect with occassional XCOM panorama. I am not sure how I feel about that level of "inspiration" but I am pleasantly surprised it isn't a fanfic about beautiful 60s with women dutifully cleaning floor and anyone who isn't white out of screentime.

I am playing average difficulty and it has some nice moments that are making me sweat. The protagonist isn't as big d*ck as people made me to believe. Combat is fun, dialogues lack certain spark.
