It'll be a fine ship when she's done. Now though she barely be more th'n a dinghy full o' holes that barely can stay above water.
But it won't quite sink.

I find Galaxy useful for the new releases where there will be patching a-plenty over the course of months after release.

I have the client installed --I use it to play some of my favorite games I've installed. So far, no problems.
However, I don't think I use any of the features (other than updates) that the client app has to proffer.

I think it's a bad idea altogether.
It seems to me this Galaxy thingie was designed to compete with Steam, which is not a bad idea per se. Instead of fighting where Steam is weak (DRM-free games is what makes GOG strong & wonderful), someone had the unlucky idea of fighting where Steam is strong... And made a client which, as you can see in the posts, is apparently neither wanted not really used by most users...
To my eyes, GOG loses some of its personality with Galaxy, and I take it as a word of warning: GOG wants to be like Steam.

I like it so far. I like to have all my launch buttons for my games in the same place. And since I also use Steam, uPlay, Origins and even Desura, you can guess that the idea of having a game client doesn't bother me at all.
It's not really that handy, thought, lacking keys features for the moment.

So far I use it just to keep all my games in one spot and auto update and that's really it
the only time I can see GOG Galaxy being more of a thing is when we start to get more modern and online multiplayer type games that take advantage of online abilities kind of what steam has.
but again I don't mind it ^_^

I'm on the fence. I don't hate it, nor do I like it. Although, I have now become quite lazy downloading the individual updates like in the past. We'll see when it gets out of beta, but for now there isn't much to see. The primary thing for me that it remains optional.

I've been using it for a while now.
It is clunky.
Forum browsing requires me to click onto community the back into General Discussions to refresh.
The chat function didn't seems to refresh (or darth spudius was typing slowly with his toes)
I'd like to see a synopsis of the game on its launch page (though STeam doesn't do this either)
Also how games are in a continuous list would be an issue for those with big libraries.
But its no worse than when Steam was first released.
I don't think GoG are trying to be STeam, Galaxy is a useful and thankfully optional tool and gives migrating users a common frame of reference.

I use it to update my games automatically. Other than that: NO.
Your ordinary browser is just way better. In every respect.

I love the stuff! I love choice and freedom! Steam is what drove me off to piracy, gog what made me a paying customer again! With gog galaxy, YOU choose which version of which game you end up having and can even ROLLBACK at will, not someone else. Updates are NOT obligatory, you choose whether to allow client do them, or skip them! This single feature is a HUGE boon in and by itself, since by having it, someone can avoid updates which CUT/REMOVE CONTENT from a specific game, much like the GTA: San Andreas and Vice City on Steam, before... Achievements already started showing up for various games too, which is neat, for people who need/like them and this fetish of theirs were keeping them soulbound to other clients, before; now they might give gog and galaxy a try! Best feature of it is that no one really needs it; whenever i feel like, i play games offline and they work just fine, too. Plus gog downloader works normally and is going to work normally indefinitely, as per gog's word, at least. Someone can install a game from gog downloader and then, simply add the game's folder in Galaxy.
Long story short, galaxy is NOT one of the same old. It's all about freedom and choice, this ain't a client-hound! And this is simply beautiful! This is how clients should be. This is a street-cat of a client and very smexy, too! Away with the smelly dogs and their rattling chains!
