darthspudius: The trilogy was great but I notice he does not mention RE Survivor, Gaiden, Survivor 2, Dead Aim, Outbreak 1 + 2. All before Resi 4 and all of them were shite.
I don't even know what you're talking about hahaha! I think I'll have to search about the titles you mentioned!

Haha I suppose that is my point. There are much MUCH worse games out there than RE 4-6. Go search them. :P

pimpmonkey2382.313: Having to hit a directon then the attack button afterwards causing mess ups like running past enemies is extremely clunky and bad design. Granted, 2 isn't as bad as 1 in that effect. But it's still a clunky game in comparison to 3.
I think I didn't express myself properly.
You can hit a direction and then the attack button to swing your weapon while running, sure, but that move is crap.
What you have to do is to stay still, press the attack button first and then a direction to choose where your blow should come from, hence why I said the combat system is best structured for duels rather than fights with many enemies like, for example, The Witcher 3.
In Gothic 3 you could face as many emeies at once as you wanted, but in 1 and 2 you can manage only a few monsters and usually no more than a couple of humanoids toghether until your skills and equipment are far beyond average; they have a completely different focus.
Still, not liking it is fair! :)

Ok thank you for the advice. I will have to re-try 1 and 2 now to see how it goes. But I still say something this confusing is pretty bad. :P

Lin545: Warhammer 40K

I don't understand this. This is so much inferior to Starcraft (1). I know the political story between the two, but I don't get the so many positive reviews.
Which 40K game? Because if you're talking about Dawn of War, I find it the other way around. Dawn of War is amazing, but I can't get into starcraft. Also agree with pimpmonkey on Gothic.

Most of the big classics that we are all supposed to adore as gamers, if you believe popular media that is:
* Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Sonic, Castlevania, Mega Man, Final Fantasy etc...what can I say, don't like 'em.

Popular titles I dislike, mainly because I don't think there's anything remotely interesting about them:
* the Dragon Age series * the ElderScrolls/Fallout series * MineCraft
* anything LoL/Dota/MMO * multiplayer survival games: DayZ, Ark...
* multiplayer-based action games; Countrer-Strike, Team Fortress 2, Unreal Tournament, Tribes ...
* pointless stuff like Goat Simulator, The Stanley Parable, Gone Home
* South Park The Stick of Truth * Diablo 3 * Far Cry 3,4 * the BioShock series
* Mass Effect 2 ... they removed most of the things I liked about the first game and ruined the rest
* XCom (2012) ... the maps where far too repetitive...the best strategy game in years my a##
* anything I consider too cartoony: Psychonauts, Deponia... * the Batman games * Dishonored

In case its not obvious, which it most likely won't be to some on this forum, these are just my opinions, not universal facts. As an individual I reserve the f'n right to define games according to my own perspective and criteria.

I'm going to take a guess and say Minesweeper and Solitaire :)

Hopefully, they don't fall into the "pointless" category

Dude there are far too many games that I'm interested in, in this year alone:
* Blackguards 2 * Dying Light * Don Bradman Cricket 14 (yep read that right)
* Homeworld Remastered * Cities Skylines * Pillars of Eternity
* Kerbal Space Program * Project CARS * Galactic Civilizations III * Ride
* Massive Chalice * MotoGP 15 * F1 2015 * Shadowrun Hong Kong
* Stasis * Mad Max * Satellite Reign * Forza Motorsport 6 * Blood Bowl 2
* Wasteland 2 Director's Cut * Assassin's Creed Syndicate * WRC 5
* Rebel Galaxy * Just Cause 3 * Shallow Space * Planetbase * Ceres
* Interstellaria * Hard West

And this is without even mentioning all the classics released by GOG during the year.
So there's no shortage of games I like, however most of them are niche games and indie games.

MaximumBunny: Left 4 Dead 2 is a game that takes a great formula its predecessor made and turns it all into crap. The first game was atmospheric, the weapons were balanced, and it was a LOT of fun. The second gets rid of everything that made the first one so great, turns it into an action game, unbalances the guns, and then adds some extra modes. What you get is...higher reviews and accolades? I don't understand people. :|
If a game has the Valve logo, expect that the reviews will be so sky high, even if Five Nights at Freddy's is a better game than this Valve game.

Speaking of Freddy's, what, people are getting scared by robot dolls now, who are being guarded by some sort of guard who somehow doesn't even leave his job because of how life threatening it is, or even GET A WEAPON to defend himself? The whole game is wrong and terrible yet its so overhyped.
Need for Speed series:

I'm a motorsports enthusiast and this series have nothing to do with motorsport at all. It's more like a poser festival. I tried most of NFS games through the years, starting from the original back then, but I haven't found anything interesting about them. The excitement of racing with WAIT! there is no excitement whatsoever.

While I don't like arcade racing games too much, I can't say that I haven't enjoyed games like FlatOut or Carmageddon. And while these games didn't have realistic car handling, they had beautifully realised physics that suited them very good and made them very entertaining. None of that have I found in any NFS game.

And talking about NFS and arcade racing games in general, I'm not sure if EA wanted to make a Gran Turismo type of game for the PC audience (if I remember correctly, some of their games had the feature of buying and tuning cars) but if that was on their mind, for me, they failed absolutely. Not even 1% did they reach Gran Turismos (at least the first three that I have played) which I think are the best arcade racing games on PS in terms of physics* and the sweet obssession that you must buy, tune & race all those cars!

*while the physics are very good for an arcade game, of course they're no match for more serious sims.

Have you actually played The Stanely Parable? It's wildly different from any of those games you lumped into your obtuse "pointless" category.

With a thread like this, it was bound to happen sooner or later :P
Any sports titles (especially football/soccer)
With the exception of Speedball 2
But this is down to me not liking the genre, not the programming
Maybe it's because I'm fat, old and too grumpy to participate sports (although I do enjoy the mild look of female bodybuilders)

And Black on the X Box/PS2 FPS. The long check points and bullet sponge dynamics really, really annoyed me
