Up to 75% off Rebel Galaxy, Hard West, Shadow Warrior and more.

If killing is your trade, you better make sure to do it with style. The Samurai know this all too well, delivering death in their ridiculously fabulous armor while wielding finely-crafted stabbing instruments. But are they any match for the scruffy-looking, gun-toting warriors of the West? Let's find out by letting them battle it out in our Weekly Staff Picks: Samurai vs Cowboys — pitching revolvers against katanas, wide-brimmed hats against spiky helmets, and loose leather vests against tight, colorful cuirasses. It's a fierce duel between surefire classics and deeply-cut prices where everyone's a winner.

For most people, the far West is considered to be a relic of the past. Taking on the role of a space cowboy in open-world action/adventure Rebel Galaxy, though, will convince you to also consider it a thing of the future. Because exploring the far galaxies, outgunning space bandits, and collecting hard-earned bounties proves that fashion goes around in circles; and that a sharp tongue can sometimes get you places easier than a fast ship.

Taming the West during its wild years sure was tough and being (un)dead definitely doesn't make matters any easier. Seeking vengeance in the brutal afterlife of Hard West takes turn-based patience, gear-collecting obsession, and painful decision-making. There is no country for dead men but perhaps there can be a semblance of peace. Or bloody retribution.

Now, fancy gut-piercers and shiny bullet-propellers are fine on their own but why choose when you can have both? Shadow Warrior (2013) lets you blast through exotic locales as pissed-off shogun Lo Wang, taking in all the sights in first person and wreaking havoc with weapons or magic to any other person standing in your way.

It's Weekly Staff Picks: Samurai vs Cowboys! Join the fight between these two iconic castes of warriors picking your contestants among titles such as Skulls of the Shogun, Way of the Samurai 4, Ronin, SteamWorld Dig, and more! The promo will last until January 22, 10:59 AM GMT.

eiii: And no announcement or comment from GOG about it, not even on their beloved 3rd party channels? Or did I miss something?

tfishell: Um, were you expecting GOG to direct people to their competitor? Or what am I missing?
Of course not. :) But maybe being a bit more communicative about what good things they are doing for their users. :P

What does it help when you silently apply a discount to one of your games? Most people won't recognize it. And the people which do recognize it most probably also recognize that the game is free elsewhere, may not realize that your package delivers more than the competitors and feel like 2nd class citizens once again. Both cases are not helpful for GOG.
So either be quiet, do not apply any discount and sit it out, hoping nobody notice that it's free elsewhere (not a good strategy if you ask me), or, when you are able to offer a discount, be communicative about it, announce it and present your strengths (the additional goodies) to be competitive.

But again, I may have missed an announcement or any other official comment about this game being on sale now. That's why I was asking.

Azhdar: Is Lo Wang Samurai? :P
Best of both worlds: He's got a revolver *and* a katana.

But his proper classification is superhero, of course... To the Wang cave! :P
Westerado is sorely missed on GOG.

I think I understand your feeling. I was a little confused because the game was discounted without a blog to accompany it. I don't think GOG needs to mention that it is free on Steam, but it would have been good to post a blog for good relations with the developer and not only the customers. Maybe they just assumed that people would know about it and check here. Anyway buying it at the discount price to get a DRM-Free version than the free Steam version is best. I suppose most people would agree.
Is 1849 still deserving of two stars? It's one of the few games of it's type I don't own on GOG. Since it's been a while and I'd assume it's been patched numerous times, and it's the never Gold Edition with integrated DLC packs, is it worth buying more than it was originally?
