ReynardFox: The original does have some issues, it has a similar issue with framerate and vsync, but nowhere near as bad, and easily fixed with something like radeonpro in my case and it doesn't save a few minor settings on shutdown (like shadow quality) but other than that, the game runs well and has never once glitched or died on me.
You don't need RadeonPro anymore, because the AMD Radeon Crimson software let's you configure framerates any many other things and save it as a profile for each and any game.

I had an issue with the catalyst 14.9+ software that was causing my system to hardlock to black screen so i've been sitting on 14.8. I've been meaning to check out the newer drivers, but I'm hesitant to rock the boat.

Marioface5: According to the PCGamingWiki article, Impossible Creatures does have support for Windowed mode. It doesn't state how to activate it though. I can't look into it myself, since I don't have the game. Maybe it's in the config files? Maybe alt+enter works?

EDIT: Is there a launcher or anything like that? Maybe a special settings program in the game folder?
I already tried to look at all of this... There is only a file "local.ini" where you can change resolution, but no mention for a windowed mode. There is a kind of launcher "ICConfig.exe" for which GOG even created a shortcut in windows menu, but it always crash when I try to launch it. (The game works perfectly, the map editor seems to too, but not this executable).

Isn't it possible to try to force the game to launch in a window by adding some "commands" in the shortcut ? (I remember that you can add things like -f to have the game fullscreen) I can try if you want !

IronArcturus: So how is the gameplay in Impossible Creatures? Is it like C&C with animals instead of tanks?
After finishing tutorial and first mission, I would say yes in a way. There are only two resources (and size of population), the main aspect is really creation of units (a little bit like in Warzonne 2100). Strategy is here (at least for my taste) : you have to think what species to combine, which part of the two you want to keep depending of there capacities, advantages compared to the other (attack, defense, speed, sight...), special abilities (that you have to activate manually in battle)... Concerning the "RTS" side, for what I saw, I would qualify it "simple" (a little bit like in a C&C game).

In short, it's very fun, original and interesting while easy to get into (and I love the atmosphere).
For this price, I recommend it if you like RTS, especially "different" ones which are easy to get into. It's really good and enjoyable. But I have only a limited vision for now, and it's since it's original launch that I wanted to play it, so I may be biased :P
I advice you to try the demo as suggested to have a better idea ;)

[Edit : and I tried "forced" windowed mode, it seems to be working well]

eiii: Meanwhile I've tried the demo and I also haven't found a setting to change the difficulty for the campaign. Maybe the game isn't as hard as it seemed in the videos. :) At least it has a good tutorial.

Edit: Skirmish mode has a difficulty setting for the AI.
I can't say about the whole game for now, but for what I saw, I didn't encountered something "hard" (and I'm not specially good :D). I think one of the main "difficulty" is to take the time to combine animal in an "efficient" way.

Ah, I understand.

tfishell: Would any of the $2-3 games be worth picking up just for the soundtracks? (those that have them as bonus content)
Of course! The question is, what type of music do you like to listen?
I bought:
Overclocked
The moment of silence
All Guild
All Spellforce
Summoner
Darsiders
Impossible creatures
Jack Keane 2

And I wanted to buy only JK2, Overclocked and The moment o silence.
Heh, Weekend shopping time :)

To enable Windowed mode, add -window to the shortcut's target field.
Maybe I'll give MX vs. ATV a try? Should try my Steam one first ;)
90% off for Darksiders II is stark raving mad. The low reviews on technical issues aren't encouraging, the top review claims the technical issues have been fixed, and there are people in this thread saying it's still got a long way to go. So... I'm not sure what do to.

I just tried, and it's working well ! (thanks for the tip) I simply had to reduce the resolution in the options of the game :)

I've played everything the demo allowed me to play (the tutorial, the first 3 missions of the campaign and 2 skirmish maps). So far the game isn't as hard as it looked like. In the opposite, it has been rather easy to get into the game. Maybe it gets harder in the later campaign. I like the game, it's fun to play. So for everyone who's still on the fence I can only recommend to try out the demo.

Spare a thought for those of us in the southern half of the world, GOG, who aren't needing to be rescued from heatwaves..
It would be nice to be noticed now and then, even if we are in the minority..
I have Darksiders, but I can't decide to buy Darksiders II due to its negative reviews. Is it really unfixed?
Barkeep? A bottle of your finest Keane!

Actually, I'm rather undecided on that idea. Should I get Jack Keane? Any other games that would make a great worst present ever? :P
