I'm glad I chose to buy it when it was highly discounted back in December, instead of waiting for some other time.
It's a bit strange that despite having been released after Way of the Samurai 4, it is the first one to be removed.

Also, I almost missed the thread due to subconsciously ignoring the sticky threads.

This situation seems pretty strange to me.

What exactly do you mean by "expiring licensing rights"?

If it means that Ghostlight LTD is no longer the publisher of this game, then it also should be removed from Steam, but there is no information about it (at least for now).

If it means that the contract between ACQUIRE and Ghostlight LTD has expired, then Way of the Samurai 4 should also be removed, but there is not a single word about delisting Way of the Samurai 4 from GOG and / or Steam.

If it means that the contract between you (GOG) and Ghostlight LTD has expired, then all games from this publisher should be delisted from the catalog, not just Way of the Samurai 3.

Anyway, I've already contacted Ghostlight LTD support for more information on this case. Let's see what they have to say.

You haven't thought of a thing. It can also be a license in the game. Like music for example.

Unfortunately, Ghostlight LTD support still hasn't responded, but for some reason the game is still available for purchase on GOG as well as on Steam.

Spectrum_Legacy: Delistings in a digital age are rather depressive. Let's not shoot the messenger though.
For all practical purposes, delistings are only possible in a digital age.

Back in time, there would have been a certain number of physical copies, and then at some point they simply had stopped pressing more copies, but the already existing copies would remain in circulation.

Still up on Steam as of now. For whatever reason Steam has always been slower at removing games than GoG.

I wish there was a better way for notifications for delistings, since it can be easily be lost among the active threads. I'm just seeing this thread today, and it's too late for me. Luckily, I was able to experience the game on the PS3 years ago.

I haven't played WOTS4 yet though. I'm not sure if I should grab it asap or risk waiting for another sale.

It was a sticky until today. Which, funilly enough, makes it even easier to miss because who looks at the sticky threads :P

If it does get removed there as well, maybe it'll be removed in 4 hours from now (which seems to be the usual time they get delisted there, as well as when sales start and end)
