Navagon: Definitely 7. Hopefully Microsoft will stop fucking up soon and release something better. But 7 is the only real option right now.
doubt it unless there is a massive massive backlash and ms suddenly backpedals id rather have windows 8.1 then 10

Why all the Windows 10 hate? It's leaps and bounds better than 8, and with a decent smart menu better than 7.

I find that installing & using Linux Mint is *far* less hassle than Win7. Faster to install, faster to set up and about as easy to use. some people just want to use their computer with out any hassle

Some Windows-only software can be a hassle to get it running in Wine if you don't know what it needs, but if you do then it's not that much harder. If something won't run in Wine then a dual-boot setup works, or perhaps run Windows in a VM.

No
No
No
Is there a "No to all" button?
tell him to go back to 7 No

adamhm: You really don't need to be that tech-savvy to use Mint. It's much less trouble than Windows... especially once they start killing off Win7 (which from the sounds of things will be happening much sooner than originally planned) some people arent tech savvy or want to tinker they just want to use their computer
still i prefer to run my aps and games natively
if i wanted to use wine or crossover ill kick start my mac

LordTarin: I've been stubbornly clinging to XP for a while and I'm ready to upgrade now. I have a new PC but I don't know which OS to use. I have access to free copies of Windows 7, 8, and 10 through my school. Which one should I go with?
If you have a skylake processor, go with 10 due to the recent announcement that skylakes and 7 and 8 won't be supported. If you've never tried Linux, what a great time to try! :)

snowkatt: quick everybody buy windows 8 !! Sure, and that's fine... but it's still worth mentioning Linux as an alternative option & offering help with it if needed.

I'll be building a new system later this year & I was already thinking about going Linux only with it, but that news settled it for me. My next system will definitely be Linux only.

Ganni1987: If only Macs weren't so expensive I'd be sure to try it, does it come with any activations or some form of copy protection? I've never dipped my toes around 'hackintosh' builds either so my experience on them is lacking. when push comes to shove and windows 10 becomes what i think it will become
