Ueber: Thank you very much!
You're welcome! If you're going for co-op, you might interested in the Repentance DLC in particular. We noticed that in that DLC the other player gets their own character instead of a weird floating muppet thing. We never played Isaac before so this is only based on our first impression, but as far as we can tell each DLC adds more stuff overall so it doesn't look like you lose anything by playing the final DLC from the start.

Isaac! I hadn't played any of these titles since the original game. Time to sink more hours into the basement and below
I've already got Cave Story+ for Linux from back when Humble Bundles were good, but I'll think about whether BoI: Rebirth is worth buying when it's more than $5, not more than 50% off, doesn't include a Linux version, and I already have the original from Humble.
Just want to say, the Binding of Isaac rebirth front page banner manage to give me a creep/scare, good job. Usually Isaac poster was depicted as him standing or lying in a bit of distance but this one more of a close up and more detailed like creepypasta style detailed.
Thanks for Isaac!
Doukutsu Monogatari, or Cave Story as it is known outside of Japan, was and is one of those projects that propelled the indie industry into the market at a time when ideas seemed to be in short supply. Over time it not only became a cult title but a benchmark for the indie industry. Studio Pixel, or Pixel as it is now called, developed Cave Story in just five years and was so successful in Japan that it was translated by fans into English, Spanish and other languages. After so many years it's gratifying to see it here on GOG. The original website of Daisuke Amaya (Pixel) where Cave Story was hosted does not exist today. In addition to Cave Story, the site hosted other works by this Japanese designer and developer that have been lost to memory over time. A pity, really. In my particular case, Cave Story, the original La-Mulana and other indie video games of the time marked part of my adolescence and gave me hours and hours of fun in front of my PC monitor with only 8-bit images and sound. I think it was lucky for those of us who have been able to appreciate the abysmal evolution of video games today. Because, only 40 or 30 years ago in the past you could only reinterpret the pixels with which the worlds and characters of your favourite video game were made. Today that limitation does not exist, and yet today we still visit these worlds and characters as we did yesterday.

From what I heard the creator and publisher seen drm free game versions as nearly as bad if not just as bad as piracy.. so it seems the sales elsewhere of the drmed versions had dried up so much they got a drm free version brought out for drm-free storefronts to get more cash
Does Binding of Isaac: Rebirth have any way to save mid-run?

I remember playing the original Binding of Isaac, and one issue I had is that a run could easily take over a half hour and, due to the lack of any way to save, had to be completed in a single sitting. Have they addressed that?
Nice to have Cave Story here.

Not touching Isaac. I find the entire game's theme revolting.

Wait, you have a problem with a mother being instructed by a deity to kill her own sun, and then attempting to follow through with it?

(Also, you do know that the plot is based on a Bible story, right?)

Loosely very loosely based that is
