Good news! As of this day two classic games made by Mike Singleton - The Lords of Midnight and Doomdark’s Revenge - are available on GOG.COM completely free.

Enjoy those breakthrough titles that paved the road for fantasy series like King’s Bounty or Heroes of Might and Magic.

Mike Singleton was a legendary programmer and by all accounts one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet.
Would love to see more of his games released here such as War In Middle Earth, Midwinter (and its sequel) and Starlord.
I wonder if they’re identical enough that my maps from the C64 are still correct.

Don't forget Lords of Midnight: the Citadel, whose the remake, I believe, is still in works (but maybe not for long because of these freebies).
Awesome!
I didn´t know about these games but i ´ve played King´s Bountty and HoMM so thank you for the freebies.

What a great surprise! I had forgotten its existance on GOG store but remembered the vanilla zx spectrum version with love.

They were ahead of its time back in the eighties like every Mike Singleton Game. That guy was a visionary of some kind.

War in Middle Earth, Throne of Fire, Lords of Midnight...

Now It is a great oportunity to try a couple of classics remastered and modernized.

I didn't know that a LoM3 remake was being done. If so, that's excellent news!
Can you provide a link of the subject?

Vythonaut: Many thanks to everyone involved to make this offer possible!
^ This. Never played any of them before. so thanks a ton.
Never did get very far on the 464 with Lords of Midnight...

...wonder if theres a means to emulate green screen? ;D
Thanks, GOG, for bringing them back to life and "free to own"!
Well, I already bought them a while back but a nice gesture :)

It is, for quite some time, because the engine devs stopped support, so it was rebuilt in a new engine.
You can have some information on the LoM blog.

And there's a bonus: the Lords of Midnight novel has been released! (still haven't yet, I don't know how it compares to the novellas included in the Citadel's box)
The freebies are actually a good reminder for me to get this novel :p

(reposting from twitter) Very cool. still wish we could get more freeware releases like Starcraft + Brood Wars (maybe not technically freeware), OMF2097, Halloween Harry, SimCity, etc. :)
