Sega bought Creative Assembly in 2005. Since then new Total War games are broken on release.

Wish it would have been a 40k game, but I guess this might be fine also.
As to the current slate of Total War games and the direction, CA is so far off the rails they're not even playing roller coaster any more.

*If GOG does a deal with SEGA and we end up seeing the Total War games here, I will be happy to rescind my comment and give an enthusiastic recommendation.*
"Chaos aren't currently listed as a playable faction"

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT????

Plus, its likely you will only be able to watch the game being played, in their corperate headquarters, under close inspection by staff in case you manage to pinch some pixels. I have original copies of all the games up to MedII and the collectors box-set, but after those Sega popped in and ruined the series - not to mention covering it in DRM. They can keep this one too.

Just to add, there is this mod for M&B Warband. Seems pretty good, though haven't played it much.

Well I played all of their games up to Rome 2: Total War and that game is a total mess even today and not even close to what was advertised and not to forget the gazillion torn out game content sold as dlc. I have several box sets of Total War games through the years. For me the best ironically still is Rome: Total War which is even better with the Europa Barbarorum mod that adds more gameplay diversity.

011284mm: The idea is good on paper, even if you had to buy certain armies as DLC it would be a nice idea.
The only problem is that all but a small handful of GW's licences have been utter tosh. So the verdict is out for now.
I certainly like me some Bloodbowl LE - I assume you count that as 'one of the handful' though?
Am I wrong to assume that the diplomacy, marriage and religion aspects will be a bit... uh... streamlined ?

The mods are really was make the Total Wars games that much better. There is the famous one for Medieval that takes place in Middle Earth.
I was hoping of a more Dawn of War 3 Warhammer 40k approach when I heard Creative Assembly scavenged the Dawn of War II IP and Runic Entertainment from the carcass of THQ but this will have to make due.

I'm interested...
Definitely a nice treat as a "game of the year" edition.

I thought there are priest in the Imperial Fraction and Sister of War fraction?

Oh and Space Marine seems to throw the term tech priest now and then.
