There was nothing wrong with the Warhammer games they'd already made. Can't see how the Total War game engine would make any difference. I always thought it was best suited to historical anyway.

Although the Dawn of War games were best. I still like playing those and they should be on GOG :)
Ooooh!

They've screw it up. A bit. Then they'll spend months fixing it up. Same as always. I think that the only thing to worry about here is how true they keep it to the source material. I didn't see anything in that which caused any concerns beyond the lack of Skaven. But yeah, that will probably be a DLC or something.

Breja: I loved King Arthur, wich was essentially fantasy Total War with RPG elements, so I hope this might be somewhat similar.

Pheace: I love that game. Shame II was horribly optimized/buggy but those games had a great feel to them.
So odd I was just thinking about this one! Add me to the camp that absolutely loves this game (I even put a bit of time into 2 and enjoyed that as well).

For me it's a near perfect game - a bit tough at times but everything about it was bliss. Swapping my knights in and out of different lordships, assigning them wives to shore up their weakness or make them even more efficient lords, gearing up those I would take into battle and finally having enough to split off into multiple armies, holding regions and carefully positioning troops... I could go on and on. And that's not even mentioning the excellent text quests and all the fun of levelling my troops, fiefdoms and lords.

I would LOVE a GoT game done just like this. I would lose it if someone could make that happen.
This is pretty cool. About time we get a really good fantasy rts game.
GOG desperately needs some Warhammer games here (either Fantasy or 40K).

And some Total War too.
I have been interested in seeing Total War tackle a fantasy setting so I am looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Telika: I love the Total War series and for some reason the isea of having a fantasy one leaves me completely meh.

AnimalMother117: Yeah, similar vibe over here.
Yup, given the weird states of Rome 2, and being a great fan of what Relic with with the 40K franchise, I really fear the worse.

The good thing is, GamesWorkshop never lets a bad videogame shut down any future installement within the franchise :-)
Great news!
I'm still waiting for Medieval 3 though. Hope one day Medieval 1 and Medieval 2 come to GOG.
I'm so excited I won't be able to play this because of steam DRM and 20gb multiplayer updates.

F**k you creative assembly.
Playable Tomb Kings?

cw8: I'm still waiting for Medieval 3 though.
Can you see the sieges of massive medieval cities with multiple layers of walls and defences?
Yeah, won't be there.

I dunno, I'm kind of glad Creative Assembly is testing new waters - they outdid themselves in the older Total War games, but as far as I'm concerned, everything up from Shogun II they already did better before (admittedly, that's like 3 games). The last game I have really enjoyed from Total War series was Napoleon, because it was a polished take on Empire - and Empire was a very pleasant change from previous Total War games, portraying american revolution (napoleonic) era so damn well. So they're doing it now again, trying things not seen before in Total War games - I won't complain.

Althought I have high hopes and very much wish this new Total war, Warhammer to be a success, I habour a great fear that this new warhammer will be repulsive to me, like going the way of starcraft 2 Always Online DRM

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Sega spokesperson said a little more: "THQ Canada titles are already compatible with online gaming, and we think the ratio of the titles made compatible with online gaming among all THQ Canada titles will further increase going forward.
I dearly hope there will be a offline Single Player portion of the game that is as good as the previous Warhammer.
They did awesome in Medieval 2. Had a few epic battles on Constantinople alone, both defending and sieging its famed triple walls which is featured in Medieval 2:
It was glorious in Med 2, probably even better if they did Med 3 and got all the bugs and AI sorted out. Hopefully not like the horrible Rome 2 at launch.
Glad they're going the Warhammer route, I liked King Arthur series, maybe incorporate some of the gameplay elements from there into Warhammer TW. Also, would really like to see a China: Total War at some point in the future. In the meantime, I'll still wait for Medieval 3 since Medieval is my favourite of the TWs.
Oh that's why I mentioned that particular element, to me it seems that sieges have become progressively worse from that high point in the series and I'm worried they would screw up in third part. Sieges in Medieval 2 were a thing of beauty.
