I remember Ziets saying from the off he wanted TB, though it's too long ago for me to dig up where he said that. The others I don't know about, though whoever wrote the KS updates just before and after the vote gave me the impression of thinking TB is inherently more thoughtful than RTwP because... because tabletop... because it just is, y'know? (Your impressions may of course have been different; I'm just reporting mine.)

Still. They said in their KS pitch that there'd be an advisory vote, and there was. So in that respect I don't feel deceived. However, I'm sceptical about the expansion from TB combat to TB for any time-sensitive event--the way the Crisis system has been described sounds like a determination to force TB gameplay upon players even if they favour non-combat builds. But we shall see.

I loved torment not just because of everything in the game aside from combat...but also combat!

I don't get the hate for real time with pause. It's the best, and I never spent as much time in turn based games as I did the infinity engine games. I was part of this poll and I voted for real time. I don't need to hear BS that this system is junk, because it's far from. Only a TB elitist would say this, because well that's what they do. Frankly I could play either, but if your going to make a spiritual successor to Planescape Torment, one of the best real-time with pause games ever created in the existence of gaming, then for crying out loud, make it real time. If the system sucked so bad, every infinity engine game would not have done so well as they all did. The combat is the most exhilarating part, and most importantly...it keeps you on your toes! Calling this new game Torment is just using the name to bring back nostalgia to attract older fans, and to also make it feel "tormentish" with similar writing, but there's no other relation whatsoever, especially now with TB instead of RT. Everything about it will feel alien, for sure. But I don't want the same game, I just want a game that FEELS like at torment game.

They better deliver!

I'm not sure where you're seeing 'hate' for RTwP, but if you have any doubts about what the game's going to feel like (TB combat aside), check This Video. I just got around to viewing it and... wow. If this is pre-alpha, I'm thinking this game will be bloody awesome.

In the initial poll there were hoards of TB lovers bashing the real time system, saying how flawed it is. Well, no system is perfect, and both have their perks. In general there are very few games that use this system, perhaps because if abused it could flat out ruin an entire game's experience. But overall I find it to be a very varied and enjoyable system with lots of strategic elements, albeit different than TB.

I'll be sure to check out the vid.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I recall that now. Of course, there seemed to be just as many RTwP fans bashing TB. Opposite ends of the bell curve, I guess. :)

Frankly I'm for either, but as far as I can tell Pillars of Eternity is the only other modern RTwP game of recent memory. Other than that, everythings turn based. And if it's real time, it's a strategy game, not an immersive and in-depth RPG. I like variety so I like a lot of every system. For real time that's usually playing the classics.

But a lot of people who played Torment and enjoyed the combat, and who may have missed the poll or didn't even pledge in the first place, may very well be getting that shock aforementioned.
Does anyone know if the Torment backer site provides GOG keys for Wasteland 2 yet? I see the "Redeem" button on the "Manage Keys" page, but I don't want to be given a Steam version, so I haven't clicked it... ??

Yes, you have the choice of a GOG key, Steam key, and possibly one other (I can't remember sorry)

Thanks! :)
So, for those who haven't read the last update, the goal for the Gullet got extended and we're as of now just short of around 18 000 dollars till we make it! The new deadline is the 31st October!
So yeah, upgraded my pledge, since I wanted the novellas and the comics and I also got to help out a little :D

And Adam Heine's Novella From the Depths: Gold is out, so if you got it as a reward, get it now!

I'm getting paid on Friday (probably) so I'm thinking of pledging about 50 dollars more.

That's great, cool! I mean, if we're so close to getting a bigger area with some more mysteries, I'm all for it! Kudos to you! :)
I really can't wait for this game!
I'm planning of upping my pledge a further $50+

Well, it's a great chance to use 25 bucks to get a cheap copy of Wasteland 2 as a gift for a friend. Will probably get the novels with 15 and dunno what I'll use the remaining 10 on. But yes, I'd love to see that area happening.
I already backed for the boxed CE like I did for WL2, don't think I need to upgrade my pledge :)
