Fever_Discordia: Who says it's going to be Judas? Maybe GOG next marketing guru will call himself
The Unfathomable G (for Gordon)
or something...
Anyone was here when TET made his debut as PR guy? Was he already a GOG employee before that?
I guess with TET leaving in August, we'll need a new name for the weekly hints. After all, it's not going to be an enigmatic hint without The Enigmatic T.

On that note, I have to say that TET's shoes are going to be hard to fill for whoever ends up replacing him. TET had a voice that reminded me of 80's movies/shows for some reason, which I thought was quite appropriate for GOG.
So who will be the next PR guy ?

Fever_Discordia: The whole of GOG HQ is soon not going to be anywhere NEAR Enigmatic enough from what I here :'-(

Grargar: So, should we rename it to This week's Judas Hint?
I was going to post earlier that this thread will probably become The Thievin' Bastard's Stolen Secrets. But I was sheepish about spreading the departure info further. I guess it's pretty much an open issue anyway, given all the other postings about it.

JMich: 24, 25, 26...
Damn it, I'm missing 4 silver pieces...
avatar
Grargar: JMich, 30 silver pieces was so 33 A.D. With the inflation that has taken place over two whole aeons, I suspect we'll need lots more of silver.
Problem is : one does not even know what coins the text refers to. One long assumed these were Roman "Pax seated" denarii from Tiberius ( that coin is even known as the "tribute penny" amongst US numismatists ) , but the Sanhedrin used the tribute collected from the temple, and that was probably paid using the coins that circulated the most in Palestine at that time: Syrian tetradrachms. In terms of purchasing value, a denarius amounts to 1 day of qualified work. A Tetradrachm would be closer to 5 days of work.

30 silver coins , assuming these would be silver ounces, would not match the purchasing value of 30 Tetradrachms, but would not be ridiculous against the purchasing value of 30 denarii

Wasn't it actually G-Doc who tended to pull the strings behind the hints? As in http://www.gog.com/forum/general/this_weeks_enigmatic_hint/post896/?staff=yes

I was here when he first appeared in public on some conference. Remember I asked forums who was this italian-named guy and if Guillaume Rambourg is not with gog.com any more.
Before TeT their PR & marketing was ran by a polish guy (can't remember his name :-( who left some months after TeT came.

I wish him the best - hopefully someone just as good or maybe even better can replace him though, I'd hate to see GOG.com lose exposure going forward since the mastermind of marketing from the last 4 years is moving on now.
Maybe there have been no enigmatic hints... because the massive Summer sale is right around the corner (so there is nothing to hint about)?

My wallet trembled while I was reading your post.
But I don't think so, they would release new games even during the sale I think.

Judging from previous years, we should expect the Summer Sale in 18 June.

I'm sorry to hear TheEnigmaticT will leave GOG. Perhaps it is related to the "regional pricing" debacle when people complained that it was presented as "good news".

Anyway, there are still 3 months to come, maybe GOG and him will change their minds. I wish him the best!

I really do hope it is not over that. It was certainly bad publicity, but GOG handled that all rather well I thought and they have stepped back after hearing us complain. It was bad, but not loose your job / quit bad.
Anyway I just wish him all the best and I hope the next PR guy is as willing and friendly as TET has been with us all in the forums.

On TOPIC
Sacred 2 Gold (release it damn you, release it!!!)

We've grown to love him and forgive GOG, so I don't think that was the reason (although I could be wrong).

I want to create a "tribute" thread to TET when it seems okay.
