Do we finally get regionally different discounts on sales now, more than the usual rounding differences? According to GOGs game card The Witcher 3 is only discounted by 45% for me. Or have I only missed such substantial differences before?
Why does the 'Game + Expansion Pass' cost more than buying both separately? Is that just CAD pricing that is wrong?
Even buying the base game then the expansions separately is cheaper than the 'Game + Expansion Pass'

It's probably a GOG display bug.
The game page in Switzerland reads [strike out $52.49], $28.79, You save 23.70 (45%).
But the regular price in Switzerland is not really $52.49; it is $57.69, so your discount is indeed 50%.
Disclaimer: Unless they changed the regular price in the last 5-6 hours (the last MaGog run), in which case we'll know in a couple of hours (the next MaGog run).

meh, I'll just wait until the expansion pass is discounted. Serves me right for wanting to support you by pre-ordering...
Oh, well, my rig is not able to run TW3 anyways. I'm on the fence between upgrading my 2008 rig now or waiting until some major hardware part starts to fail. The latter will probably happen after the social media and forums are already ablaze about Cyberpunk 2077.

If I already have Witcher 3 on my GOG account and buy the bundle, does GOG give me a giftable copy of Witcher 3?

opticq: Why isn't the expansion pass on sale? :(
The second expansion isn't even out yet. To put the pass on sale would be unfair to those who bought it previously.

HunchBluntley: The Expansion pass has a built-in discount of 5 USD in the US region ...
avatar
apehater: this is a lie and many users who bought the expansion pass at 24,99 should feel cheated. just count with the discounts of both expansions at release (hearts of stone 85% and blood and whine 90%) and you'll get a difference of only 1,49$.
In my region, the base price of Hearts of Stone by itself is $9.99. The base price of Blood and Wine is $19.99. The two combined come to $29.98.
The base price of the Expansion Pass is (as you yourself said) $24.99 -- a difference of...(wait for it)...$4.99 compared to the full price of the individual expansions. I'd call that a built-in discount. (And, yes, the price difference is technically 1 penny less than $5. Sue me.) Where was the lie, exactly?

The crux of your "argument" seems to be NOT that expansion pass buyers are getting ripped off because they have to pay more than people who purchased both expansions separately at their pre-order discounts (they aren't, obviously), but that expansion pass buyers are somehow getting ripped off because, even though they're still paying less than people who pre-ordered the expansions individually, the difference is somehow not big enough? What kind of child's logic is that? You are still getting it cheaper. -_-

Fomalhaut30: Really guys, you couldn't put a 10-20% off on just the Expansion Pass?
Its base price is already one-sixth less than the two expansions' combined base price; expressed as a percentage, that would be 16.66% off (which GOG would probably call 17%). Even at "regular" price, the Expansion Pass is already a better deal than the current 10% off the individual DLC. ;)

A fake price with a fake discount. I guess where Steam goes, so goes GOG.

Really sad.

Mystery solved.

When the promo launched this morning, TW3 cost $57.69 in Switzerland and was reduced to $28.79, which is indeed 50% off.

Then a few hours later someone changed the full price in Switzerland to $52.49, but did not change the sale price, resulting in a smaller perceived discount. A similar thing happened in Norway (even more pronounced).

Full details are, as usual, here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/good_news_price_updates/post1162

Whether this was a bug or not is anybody's guess.

It's not a fake discount, you actually save money off the retail price. Anyone who isn't voting for Bernie Sanders can explain this very simple math to you ;)

Niggles: Hands up those who purchased TW3 on release but yet to download or play it? (bit on big side for this slow connection + looking for new video card to be able to play it. after the first two games) :P
Me. Ironically I built my current PC around being able to run TW3 maxed. I think I'm just waiting for a revised, more complete installer before I commit to downloading 40gb.

I'm not getting your "Bernie Sanders" jab there. What are voters of him supposed to be stupid or something? As a UK resident it seems odd call to make. I got the impression he was several magnitudes smarter that Hillary, but she has the political connections and a disturbing laugh whenever she is caught not knowing something.

-- as for the witcher promo. Nothing for me. I would get the expansion pass but since I've got got around to playing the game there is no real drive for me to buy when no special is at hand.

Anyone else find this part a little annoying (screenshot attached to this post)? One would think GOG.com would mark it "owned" as soon as the site see you've purchased both the game and its two expansions.

Steam does something to that extent, I can't see why GOG.com couldn't do the same.

That sort of thing with games owned has been a complaint by many here in the forms for years. I have a feeling it is a low priority for GOG developers to fix it.
