kai2: Agree. He looked much better. I actually quite enjoyed the few episodes I watched. Wish those were released on DVD in NA.
I don't think Cavill is a particularly bad actor, but he just looks ridiculous -- stuffed into that costume. I think he could be great in a Witcher show... but just not as Geralt.
My dream casting for Geralt will always be Mads Mikkelsen. He's intense, has the gaunt but muscled physique, can do actrion (Valhalla Rising), and has a deep sadness that he naturally exudes. Yeah, he's a bit old for the Geralt they want to portray, but he's perfect IMHO.
I don't really have a "dream casting" for Geralt in my head. At least not a realistic one - all the actors that come to my mind are either way too old, or not even alive any more. But I agree, Mikkelsen would be fine. As would be someone new I've never even heard of if only he really fit the role. Hell, maybe that would be best. What would really be best, in my opinion, is an animated series from Tomasz Bagiński. The intro to the first game is still probably my favorite and best on-screen rendition of Geralt.
I know it's silly. I was just trying to illustrate my problem with Cavill's super-buff physique, not make a serious suggestion.
