Hey Folks,
this next patch is a bit lean on content but that is because we are gearing up to the next one that has a huge new region with tons of adventures awaiting - and it is coming sooner than you think! That said, this current update contains a pile of new features and Quality of Life improvements that will hopefully make you happy - like a completely reworked Event UI, Test boosting that allows you to use Resourcefulness to improve chances in Events, additions to Chart markers that makes it easier to find things in the wasteland (but still keeps it a challenge most of the time), new Hirelings, combat Skill tweaks, and a lot more!

Important Note: Considering the extent of these improvements there is little to no chance that we broke nothing in the process. Assume that we did not want to make anyone's life harder. If you see something amiss, please flag it to us using the usual channels, like the inbuild reporting tool (F1 button), forums, and our Discord server.

Now let's jump into the details:

• Tasks no longer automatically grant the settlement destination on the chart. Instead, they spawn a marker similar to quest markers that can be used to locate the settlement.
• Passengers also get a marker. Their destinations also is now clickable in the mansios (so you could preview the direction they are heading to).
• Several tweaks to market prices aiming to make cheaper goods a bit more profitable while curbing the effortless riches on expensive goods (let us know how you find these).
• Trade task commissions got a ~8% increase to make them more worthwhile

Bug fixes
• Faction offers no longer accumulate the available offer quantity infinitely (hopefully that puts an end to the 1k bross rounds)
• Sand Wyrm burrow got an interim fix - a proper fix will come at a later time
• A number of smaller bugs squashed
• Can no longer poach Yrgs from Crew Combat
• Crew Combat offerings no longer disappear when clicking 'Back'
• Event occurrence tweaks regarding the frequency of wind and dream events
• Another round of infinite insight exploits closed off

Known issues:
• The initial Loading time might have gotten even higher as we had added the new nodes for the upcoming content patch (hidden from players for now)


'Is Vagrus properly balanced now?'- Nope.

Coming up next
Meanwhile, we keep working on two major patches simultaneously. On the content side, the Smolderbone region has been coming along nicely, while the development of our single largest outstanding feature, Mercenary Tasks, is progressing well, too. When we released “Safe mode” for SOMA some years ago we didn’t really know how it would be received or if it would make a difference at all to the players out there. Today we know that it was well worth the effort and that the mode allowed a whole new audience to experience the game. We got a lot of player feedback from people appreciating SOMA’s safe mode, and nearly every single interview leading up to the release of Amnesia: Rebirth contained the question “Will it come with a safe mode?”. This indicates to us that the mode has had an important influence on SOMA’s reception. Now, we’ve created something very similar for Rebirth.

Safe mode allowed players to take in SOMA’s narrative, atmosphere, story and theme, without having to worry about monsters attacking them. And even though Amnesia: Rebirth has a foundation in the same kind of horror that once made Amnesia: The Dark Descent so successful, the game shares many characteristics with SOMA.

With Adventure Mode we hope that new players, that have a hard time handling horror as a genre, will get to experience Tasi’s story. That they will get to immerse themselves in the character and the unforgiving environments of Rebirth, as they fight for survival for themselves and those closest to them.

Playing the game in Adventure Mode still contains the same serious themes and story - and the atmosphere can still be quite unnerving at times - but the experience is going to be much less of a horror experience and more one of an epic adventure.

Here’s a summary of the features that comes with the new Adventure Mode:
• Monsters still exist in the game but they won’t attack you anymore.
• Locations that contained pitch black darkness have been brightened up a lot, making environments possible to explore at one’s own pace, allowing for easier navigation and removes some of the oppressive atmosphere.
• No active fear mechanic, meaning that you don’t have to worry about taking fear from being in darker areas or near monsters.
• A few bonus puzzles.

For those of you who still want the horror experience, the Original mode is still available to you, but we hope that this new mode will be a nice alternative for others.

On Friday 18 December Broken Lines had a small update to fix the major issues that were reported to us.

The changelog is as follows:
• Loading a mid-level save should now disable already run-level scripts correctly.
• PPSH weapons in the Assault loadout will no longer disappear when unequipped.
• The game will no longer receive player input when the end-level event is triggered.

Yes that is a short patch note, especially as this is the first post-launch update. It just goes to show that the Steam Playtest session was a big success and helped us to really clear up the major bugs before the main launch!

great game, BTW, which unfortunately seems to have been review-bombed due to the many DLCs... but if anyone enjoys tabletop games and still enjoy to play along with a friend on hot-seat, you'll probably enjoy it. The base game's usually sold at 1,50$ here. Quite solid multiplayer fun for little cash.
Talisman: Origins is basically similar, but focused on single-player only and with just a couple of DLCs.

Version 1.23 released

This version focuses on gamepad and keyboard support improvements. Also, several spelling/localization fixes. In addition, one small adjustment, now flags for castles and forts on the minimap are identical to those shown on the 3D view.

Patch 2.0.1 (March 31, 2021)

This is a small bug fix patch with a few enhancements.
1. UI - improved visibility of what is happening when you hide the Cheater's Hand UI before confirming a card selection because this was causing confusion and some people thought they were softlocked.
2. CONTROLS - with controller or keyboard, if you try to summon a unit and can't because of lack of capacity we now re-select the card you just tried to cast. This improves the intuitiveness of controls in this situation.
3. CONTROLS - with controller or keyboard, changing your allied clan within the Clan Select screen now always skips over your primary clan, avoiding unintended clan switching.
4. ART - compressed some character textures that were not compressed (most already were) to reduce memory consumption and improve load time.
5. ENGINE - changed how certain types of data load so that there isn't a long load time if you resume a run on the map and then immediately open a unit banner. Or when you resume a run into the victory UI at the end of battle and then open a unit card pack. Now this data loads during the black load screen instead of just before it's needed, resulting in more responsive UI.
6. BUG FIX - fixed softlock with combination of Hope for Peace, Spell Railspike, and Wurmkin cards that bring cards back from the Consume pile.
7. BUG FIX - fixed ability to rapidly use the "engage pact" button in the Divine Temple which would lead to broken sequencing and the game possibly stealing cards from you by purging more than one card but only getting one unit upgrade.
8. BUG FIX - fixed a case in a Concealed Caverns event where a DLC card with broken visuals could be given out to non-DLC owners.
9. BUG FIX - fixed The Last Divinity attack stat calculation not interacting properly with Sap when relentless mode starts.
10. BUG FIX - eliminated a memory leak in battle when hovering cards on and off in a certain way.
11. BUG FIX - fixed an issue with controller/keyboard where if you ended your turn while a card was resolving at the start of the next turn no card would be selected.
12. BUG FIX - fixed 16:10 aspect ratio UI issues in Divine Temple.
13. BUG FIX - fixed Russian language UI issues in Divine Temple.
14. BUG FIX - fixed various text issues with Brazilian Portuguese.
15. BUG FIX - fixed cards sorting improperly in Large UI mode when viewing the Logbook cards page for the first time after booting the game.
16. BUG FIX - in the tutorial, when using controller/keyboard, don't unselect the Champion right after telling the player to summon them.

Sorry for the delay, it took longer than expected to fix the infinite loading people were experiencing when loading New Sirocco in online coop.

Hello Creators,

Our new patch is here. Since our last one, we've made huge strides in development. Some of it you will be able to see now, some are getting polished and will be ready in the next patch, and others we will tell you about in the future.

With this patch, we expanded our tutorial system, increased performance, and added building upgrades. We are also adding some additional life improvement features that hopefully will make everyone’s experience more pleasant. A lot of those systems in this patch were requested by you on our discord, steam, and social media. We are extremely grateful to have such a great community and we’ll keep working with you in order to create the best possible experience for everyone.

Now let's dive in.

Expedition Quest
Nuggets have always been curious about the world around and above them, but it is time for them to finally meet the thing that lies below. This quest is a part of a major mechanic that will be expanded on in the next patch. Prepare to dive deep underground and help your nuggets during their journey.

Shortcut System
Who doesn’t like taking a shortcut from time to time? By toggling on the shortcut menu with “x” the player can turn on a labeling system that will show them how to select menus and buildings with just a few keystrokes. For example, pressing B-1-1 will bring up an engineer hut ready to be placed.

Tutorials ( Part 2 )
We are continuing to expand our tutorial system. For the second part of this expansion, we added additional 6 different tutorials that will explain mechanics in the game such as:
• Reservoirs and how they operate
• Engineer Huts explanation
• Explanation for the radius around certain buildings and how they influence the gameplay
• Where to find the expanded building functionality
• How to assign nuggets to buildings
• How to get additional herbs to the hospital and why your hospitals might have an issue
• Infection and how to fight it

We plan to continue expanding this system. If you have something that you don’t understand or find confusing, drop us a message on our discord. We’ll be sure to review it and potentially add a tutorial for it.

Ministers Revamp
As we proceeded with adding new systems to the game, we saw that Ministers needed more and more love. For this patch, we decided to take our time and redesign how their algorithms worked. Initially, all the ministers were “fixers” of issues but that wasn't enough. Now ministers do their best to prevent issues from appearing in the first place. We reworked almost every algorithm for the Ministers system and we’re eager to hear what you think.

Modern Movie Theater
We were starting to think that modern nuggets might be getting bored with the “talkies” that were being shown in the old theaters. So now they will be able to snack on their popcorn in fancy new theaters.

Planet Seed
Have you ever found the perfect planet to later wish you could start over? Planet Seed functionality will allow you to type the specific seed of the planet in the main menu and load that exact planet on which you played previously.


IMPROVEMENTS AND BALANCE CHANGES

Full Screen Mode
Full screen mode support was added to the game, which should provide better stability and experience for some of our players.

Change in the saving system ( Archives Removal )
For quite some time we debated about our unique save system. Some people loved it, some people hated it. Based on our analytics and research, we had to take a step back and remove the archive dependent safe system. Now you can save the game at any time through the ESC menu and set up autosave frequency in the game menu settings.

Save Files Management
Since we started to rework our save system, we also added additional functionality to it. Now you can select all or multiple save files to delete. No more one by one deletion of save files.

Building Within a range Indicators
Engineers and Firefighters are important buildings for keeping your city afloat. Placing a building outside the range of Engineers Hut or Firefighters Hut will display an icon above the building you are trying to place indicating that engineers and firefighters won’t be able to reach it.

Concrete City
One of the main distinctive parts of the big cities is the amount of concrete in them. We added roads, we added tall modern buildings, but the city was still missing that little piece that sets it apart from other ages. So now you can have a true “concrete jungle.”

Educated Nugget displayed in the filter system
Educated nuggets now can be found in the filter system and you can see how many nuggets in your civilization have an education.

Performance
We keep working on our performance with every patch. For this patch we improved the resource distribution algorithms and their interactions with other systems, which should provide an additional 5%-10% of the performance improvement.

Extinct Animals Icon
A status Icon was added to the Hunters Hut that will appear when an animal is extinct and your hunters are no longer able to hunt it.

Construction Panel for the buildings that were automatically built
Previously, any building that was constructed automatically ( Black Market, Temple etc ), didn’t have a panel that would indicate the progress of their construction. Now you can see how long it will take to behold it in it’s glorious final form.

Bug Fixes:
• Fixed: Main Menu planet had a wrong season
• Fixed: Issue when certain seeds of the planet will keep repeating despite starting a new game
• Fixed: Interaction with trees in certain cases produced an error, which was breaking save files
• Fixed: Incorrect tree textures on birch trees
• Fixed: Shader used for the main menu planet was breaking on certain PC’s
• Fixed: An issue where not all objects were cleared up by nuggets when the building was placed on top of them
• Fixed: An issue when the dead animal was not removed from the pool of animals and nuggets would get stuck in an infinite hunting loop
• Fixed: After killing an animal, nuggets would not bring food back
• Fixed: In certain cases roads were able to stop the bridge placement
• Fixed: Bridge constructions sites now have a hover outline
• Fixed: Bridge and roads were not reconnecting when the road position was updated
• Fixed: Damage dealt to the nugget health was not calculated properly
• Fixed: Lens Flare effects were bleeding through the planet
• Fixed: Nuggets names were not updated in the residential tooltips
• Fixed: An issue that would prevent the completion of the “Finish House” quest.
• Fixed: Visual bug that was appearing when you try to enter the escape menu during a tutorial transition
• Fixed: Search in the nugget list panel was not working correctly
• Fixed: Building Status Icons were sometimes blinking
• Fixed: Saving the game while load screen was opened, caused a broken save file
• Fixed: Ecology panel sometimes caused an error that lead to a corrupt save file
• Fixed: Tornado creator power had a chance to spawn multiple Tornado’s if the creator power was used in quick succession.
• Fixed: Evolution tower could have been placed while being in the ESC menu
• Fixed: Localization in the garage display panel
• Fixed: Using the vortex creator power above the eatery to get cooked food and after that dropping them on the ground, caused an error that was breaking the game
• Fixed: Picking up a space box with a vortex and then dropping it while pressing Press F to fly to, caused the space box to get stuck
• Fixed: Using Vortex about the factory caused nuggets to get picked up as well
• Fixed: Using Vortex above the lake calculated the usage of creator points incorrectly
• Fixed: Picking up fruits from one bush sometimes caused other bushes to react as if the fruit was picked up from them as well
• Fixed: Telekinesis system was not cleared correctly after it was canceled and code kept the reference from the previous object causing “Unable to pick up” effect.
• Fixed: Extreme jittering in certain cases when the Vortex creator power was used
• Fixed: Bug that caused tooltips to stay open on the screen
• Fixed: Cupidon Rainbow effect was getting stuck on the screen
• Fixed: Bug where nuggets would get trapped in the bunker
• Fixed: Battery parts from the quest were not saved to the save file properly, causing the failure of the quest
• Fixed: Bug that prevented the Ministers of Water from placing pumps in the Stone Age
• Fixed: Bug that prevented the Minister of Agriculture from properly placing food production buildings
