j0ekerr: You know what?

I quit!

I'm done, it's over, I've been waiting for two days for TWAU to come back and Bigby's not going to show his ugly unshaved face anymore.

So I'm off to do something more productive, like draw porn pictures of Monkey Island characters.
Please share those ;)
What is TWAU again?

davem74: Really disapointed - I was trying to slowly build up to 10 games (tactically buying games for just this reason), and now I'm stuffed because they've withdrawn the free game after 10 purchases? So I'm stuck with games hat I only bought to qualify for this...I don't usually comment, but GOG, that sucks. Way to go to exploit your community.
That's a bit of a waste of money, don't you think? All the free games were available at a discount during this sale - if you wanted something specific, why not buy that instead? I agree hat GOG should have communicated the limited amount of free games more clearly, but its was mentioned in the FAQ of the sale, and we were given a warning in this very thread that the freebies were running out more quickly than was expected.

So what I'm saying is, yes, GOG managed the whole freebie thing sub-optimally. But you are as much to blame for your present situation than they are. It was your choice to throw money away on a gamble - and random freebies ARE a gamble - so next time use it to buy games you actually want instead. :)

Kaeoschassis: Eh, people are completely entitled to complain if they feel they've been cheated, that's all well and good. What's been confusing me is why people would spend money on 10 games they don't necessarily want, in order to get one free game - at random - that they might not even want. Am I missing something? Why not just spend your money on the ones you do want and be done with it?
THIS. I honestly don't understand that behaviour either. I guess it's a case of trying to get Witcher 3 or another full-priced game for free by spending as little as possible. :/ Maybe that's part of the reason why they ran out of freebies - people gambling on them.

When I was only one or two games away from getting a freebie it did influence my decisions. There were a couple of games for which it was borderline for me whether or not I wanted to spend the money on them. When I factored in the free game, the balance shifted and I bought the games which I was 'on the fence' about.

This is logical behaviour. The value of the high chance of getting a free game is non-zero.

edit: obviously there is a sweet spot somewhere - I certainly wouldn't have bought ten games to get a freebie if they were games which I otherwise would not have bought...

I really dislike this sale cause there are some games I want to buy but can't cause I got work and I am not able to follow the sale pace and check every second what single game is on...

eiii: Are these the only supported wide-screen resolutions or the only supported resolutions at all?
avatar
Laberbacke: At all. You get a startup window where you can choose (switching is discouraged, the save games are incompatible). So, big black bars for me since I have to use the smaller one.
Bummer! The screenshots look good and the story sounds interesting, but not supporting 4:3 resolutions disqualifies the game for me. And coupling the game saves to the screen resolution is a stupid design decision.
I have to say, in the last Insomnia sales one could at least track what would still come up and which does not...and there were bigger quantities and only 3-4 runs, so one could engage in banter on the forum. Nope I do not like the "new " Insomnia.

Role-playing is up next, this thing's drawing to a close. Could it be... D&D?!
