You will have to worry about making sure your kid does not become a victim of crime from all those refugees and immigrants that Angela Merkel is inviting into Germany with open arms.

Parenthood is nothing special. It's not like you won a million dollars in lottery.
Once, a few years ago, tort accidentally had a happy thought. Luckily, before any damage could be done, he managed to catch it and block it out from his mind.

He was able to recover from the horrific incident and get back to his favorite hobby, killing fairies and telling kids that there is no Santa Clause.

jamyskis, wishing you a great little gamer girl that grows up to be an astronaut like Nujeen Mustafa.
Congratulations! I'm not entering the giveaway, but did want to participate.

My son really likes Sonic right now, so we've been working through the Genesis classics. Sonic 2 is just as much fun as I remember, and we are having a blast switching off who gets to be Tails.

His first games were on a touchscreen, endless runners like Jetpack Joyride, tilt to steer racers, and the ever present Angry Birds.

Just came in to say congrats! :-)

Big son is turning 5 in a few days, little son is six months old, which means I can only talk about gaming experiences with the older one.

He's currently using my old Nintendo DS (for limited amounts of time) for age-appropriate games that don't require reading like the one from "Die Sendung mit der Maus".
But he also started playing Pokemon HeartGold. I have to help him with the parts that require reading but he's incredibly good at memorizing the stuff he wants to do, fights, catches Pokemon, heals them and buys supplies without problems.
:-)

And if you have questions, just ask. Having gone through this twice I feel comfortable that I can answer at least some questions. :D
Not in, but congratulation on your little bundle of joy. :)

I don't have kids yet but I would educate them about adventure games because they can be fun and educational at same time. I would probably gave them to play Grim Fandango, The Longest Journey Series, Broken swords, Runaway game series, Monkey Islands, Syberia series , .... I like those games because of their rich fantastic worlds and stories with interesting characters and lot of humour in dialogues. Such games are promoting imagination and problem solving, especially thinking outside box approach. They are also good for extending vocabulary and learning languages. From RPG games and for older child I would definitely chose Witcher series. It has of course violence and sex, but it also doesn't portray characters black and white, even monsters sometimes have some good traits. I would appreciate if my children would learn to think with their own heads. Also I think it is good when games have "choice and consequence" approach. There are probably lot of more games worth mentioning in RPG genre.

That's because in Romania the girls have a moustache.
First of all, congratulations! I think your life will never be the same again.

I think that introducing games on chronological order is the right thing to do. But there are so many milestones that you won't be able to cover them all.

I'd suggest to you Commander Keen. It is a game where you play a kid facing menaces and saving the universe. What kid would not like playing that?

Not in for the giveaway, but thank you very much for it.

Not In, just here to say congrats.

Just remember some great games and tasteful rock music will make you the coolest dad ever. Works wonders with my three. Of course don't forget all the hugs, kisses, cuddles and everything else that kids need.

My personal rule for little kids is if you can make them laugh, do it. Even at your own expense. Nothing sounds better than a little ones belly laugh. :D
Congratulations!

I've been playing video games with my nephew. Mario and sonic are of the games we've played together. I wouldn't stay only on gaming history though. It's a bit hard to find a non violent game without much text and easy enough, so that kids could enjoy. I think that any game that meets these criteria is a good choice.
