I just made my second online purchase for physical items ever.

I've been trying to get back in the electronic hobby but I was missing something to reboot my interest. I just ordered a Arduino UNO R3 starter kit on sale for $50 Canadian (including the Arduino board). I did not ask for express delivery so it should be here Friday.

My first online purchase for physical item ever was an HP-50g calculator.

Hey Hermits. Just a little story for you as tomorrow is my birthday. For a very long time, I struggled (and still do, to a lesser degree) to survive both financially and mentally.

I was one of those "leeches" "scum" and "shit stains on society" that had to get some help from my local government. I got a token amount of foodstamps ($16/month) and got help with paying my medical premiums.

Nowadays, I don't get any benefits from my local government anymore, and I just wanted to point out that you never know what someone's going through. Some people find out I write and record music, and assume I'm made of money.

Far from that, I am a working class beatnik in the 21st century. I manage to get by, and get a tidbit here and there for myself. I just wanted to ask you as a birthday gift tomorrow, to try to do a random act of kindness. As I said, you never know what someone's going through.

This particular issue has bothered me ever since a family member accused me of being everything I quoted above, and accused me of faking my schizophrenia for "free money". What's odd is that I know people who game the system, and I do not. I give my music freely, even though I believe it's worth something tangible. I do not work under the table, and if I had a way to not have nervous breakdowns every 6-12 months, I would do it, even if it was something like brain surgery which carries a risk of turning you into a vegetable.
