I was reading stuff. It sounds stupid. Once it looked like fun but afterwards. I'm starting to actually shield stuff.

Well, in lieu of that game not running, I finally finished The Forever War (by Joe Haldeman) - totally recommend it. Still stands out as a decent slice of scifi with meaning and really deservesa decent film or tv adaption as well.

Have you read Dune? It's also really good as well as 2001:A Space Odyssey or anything by Philip K. Dick.

Yeah, read most of the Dune stuff when I was a kid (well, anything published up to about 1989 at least - think there were a couple since maybe?!?!) and the arthur c clarcke stuff. recently read his "the hammer of god" which somehow bypassed me - also bloody good.

as to PKD, i like his ideas more than a lot of his actual writing - really prefer his earlier stuff like "The Defenders" to actually read, as his wordplay got bloody dull.

Well, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is one of my favourites of PKD and unfortunetly I only have the first Dune book and I'm scouring my bookstore like crazy trying to find it as well as any book by the Black Library.

As your written english is good, have you tried ebay etc?
- I cant browse a charity bookshop here without stumbling over a bunch of stuff by frank herbert, dick etc

- heres a bunch I picked up for about 50p each (so less than $1 USD) - all in good condistion and quite a few are original print runs as well.

In fact, with the age of the books, maybe ebook editions are cheap now as well?!?!
- I know a lot of Herbert and K.Dick stuff is on Project Gutenberg (albeit more novellas and short stories).

You have Battlefield Earth? Man do I want to read that. Is it any good?

Haven't managed to get too far into it yet - a lot better than I expected from the loony Hubbard though (as opposed to when he was 100% sane).
Certainly cant complain about the price - and will no doubt finish it as Travolta's b-movie was so much bad fun, I have to know where it came from! :)

The movie sucks big time. I want to read the novel to see if is any better than the movie. And yes, I love to poke fun at $cientology from time to time(Who doesn't).

Two choice picks would be Roadside Picnic and Perdido Street Station - if for no other reason than I keep coming back to them.

What about Isaac Asimov stories? Have you read those?

Read quite a few back in the 80s and caught up with some ive missed via free audio versions - but hes another one like PKD where I like his ideas more than his writing.

Archive.org is a great place to go. I love going there and watching old sci fi,horror or noir movies.

He did start out as a fairly well-respected writer ;)
Have you tried registering your key with Stardock. They should be able to do that, then give you a DRM-free download.
