Does this mean that South Africa is part of the "first world" now? Because it seems to be having at least in part the "first world" issues that come up when survival isn't the main focus.

I could be wrong but that is how it looks to me.

Both you and the YT author demonstrate profound ignorance re psychology. I watched the vid and almost immediately I realized that what it's criticizing is a perfectly normal response. Those people obviously associate Western science with the Europeans who have treated them in a manner that is best described as crimes against humanity. On top of that, a great many Africans have PTSD as a result of devastating and persistent civil wars -- which are frequently waged with weapons obtained from Western nations.

So it's perfectly understandable that they want to rid themselves of both baby and bathwater, and under similar circumstances you'd probably respond in the same manner.

So, that tablet she used isn't part of the very science she wants gone?

I admit I only have a layman's understanding of Psyche.

Because dangerous delusions need safe spaces... LOL

Comparing the topic of Scientific disbelieve with the arms traffic in Africa, this is FANTASTIC; next time you could talk about Linguistics and blame illiterate people for taking baths in warm water during the mornings as the main reason for AIDS. Makes more or less the same NONSENSE, but hey! if the topic is someone suffering, I bet your friends will not care, they will see you are such a good human being...

You have a BIG problem also to understand what Science is, but playing your ubermisconception of terms I bet she is a creationist or go every weekend to a baptist church, but "Science" is the mother of colonialism, not religion, hahahahaha

And hey! Spiderman exists! I have a PTSD for being bullied as child, so you need to believe me, you would also believe that Spiderman exists if you were bullied like me!!! T_T

Do you even know what psychology is? NO science has unlocked fully how and why humans behave like they do, and psychology isn't an exception. Psychology is far from a 100% empirical science which you seem to think it is. And just stating their hate is driven by their association of ''western science'' aka the scientific method / science is nothing more than an assumption. You can't just hold others as ignorant of non-empirical sciences then make a huge over-reaching statement like that without citing evidence. What you say is the reason for their hatred is your interpretation of why they might hate science. No one can know for certain unless you poll everyone or can prove everyone thinks that way.

Just because its understandable doesn't mean its legal or ethical, and I don't think I'm gonna reject a fact based approach to something because of wars that took place before even my parents were born, so test me if really think that. Besides, acknowledging a fact is always right, no matter who says it.

No, because ridiculing them indicates disinterest in understanding, the absence of which precludes scientific diagnosis and treatment, and indicates that you're not at all as superior as you clearly think you are, ditto for your appreciation of science.

NO science has fully unlocked ANYTHING. And since when does polling people suffering from delusions and/or ignorance make the slightest bit of sense? And speaking of ignorance, conflating acknowledgement and ridicule serves only to preclude understanding, but hey, it's not like anyone really gives a flying fuck about Africans, right?

I don't think it's an issue of how it has has spread to south africa. There are other problems here that, I think, has independently created this mindset. For one, there is a massive problem with the primary and secondary school system in the country, which predominantly affects young black kids. Bad schools, poorly trained teachers and inept government bodies that are supposed to deal with such problems. All of this adds to a vicious cycle that results in young black kids coming to university and finding that they cannot cope, the vast majority of which I think view a university degree as the only way to a semi-comfortable life (probably right). And we're talking about drop out figures of 60+% among black students. (and that's from 10 year old data - I don't see how it could've improved since then)
So now you have many thousands of students nationwide, mostly black, that know they don't have much of a chance to pass the academic year and it will cost a fortune to try again next year. This is the origin of the nationwide university protests going on at the moment, which has most universities countrywide effectively at a standstill, with millions of dollars of damage already caused.

A cry by the student leaders for free decolonized education is exactly what these students want to hear. It solves the problem of money for registering again next year, and it addresses the problem of why they can't cope : because the curriculum isn't suited for them. And now you get the sheer nonsense spouted by that lady in the video trying to explain what decolonized education means in the sciences.

OK you're clearly not even trying to keep on the same topic. And some of your sentences don't make any sense semantically. I'm gonna stop replying.

Wow thanks for the insight! It seems this is a kind of coping mechanism to what seems to me to be a genuine social issue. Still sad to see people turn that route though. Wonder why college is always getting more expensive.

They're calling it decolonialization, yet you whine that there is insufficient evidence to prove that they associate science with Western colonialism, and then claim it is I who is semantically challenged.

What an impudent and pathetic little turd you are. lol

Yeah, because the theory that that they do associate science with western civilization is nothing more than an assumption made up by you. In the video they're talking about ''decolonization'' whatever that means, not about shunning everything ''western''.

Science is the only way of ''colonialism''? Ie intellectual is the only form? What about economic? What about political? What kind of colonialism isn't there?

European colonialism is all there is in modern age Africa, and at present Western Europe is unquestionably considered to be part of the Western World.

You're welcome.
