Anothername: Lets hope the writers for that new show do not leave Star Treks special utopian flair out in the cold this time and if they want to do new Aliens will actually do new Aliens and not pull such utterly unnecessary and major BS like DIS did with the Klingons.
Caesar.: After the first shock, I actually liked the new Klingons. They look like an alien species. They reminded me of the fantastic production design of Farscape, a show that backed away from "humans with headridges" (check for example the Scarrans). Compared to them, the old ones look like a human disguised for Halloween.
Anyway, I wonder what they'll do with Klingons in the new show. Especially if (when?) Worf shows up (I cannot imagine Muchael Dorn not wanting to be a part of this). Will they update his prosthetics/makeup? Or will they keep the classic look?
And thats IMO the problem. The DIS Aliens called Klingons could have been called anything else and it would have worked with Klingon fans just grumbling that they are a bit of a rip off. So they went from bad to worse and annihilated the Klingons in favor of Reman lookalikes. Who knows, a new race would have maybe been different enough warlike to really be new and even generate a new additional fanbase instead of pissing of the old one.
*sigh* DIS is a descent SciFi show on its own merits; but I hate it for wanting to be a Star Trek show. Its insulting and annoying in its hamfisted way to butt in between ENT & TOS with unneeded changes just for the sake of changes while it has been already proven that the classic look works with some modernization overhauls.
Dang, that was more than I wanted to spend on that topic oO
Sorry, its a bit of a sore point; I really dig the TMP to ENT Klingons and the decades of fine-tuning they had. :(
Trilarion: Also I must say that Patrick Stewart, for being now about a quarter century older than when TNG closed, looks remarkably like his old self (with a bit of makeup). He kept very well.
I wish I will look only half as decent when I'm so old as him now.
Its remarkable :)
