DRM-free approach in games has been at the heart of GOG.COM from day one. We strongly believe that if you buy a game, it should be yours, and you can play it the way it’s convenient for you, and not how others want you to use it.

The landscape has changed since 2008, and today many people don’t realize what DRM even means. And still the DRM issue in games remains – you’re never sure when and why you can be blocked from accessing them. And it’s not only games that are affected, but your favourite books, music, movies and apps as well.

To help understand what DRM means, how it influences your games and other digital media, and what benefits come with DRM-free approach, we’re launching the FCK DRM initiative. The goal is to educate people and ignite a discussion about DRM. To learn more visit https://fckdrm.com, and share your opinions and stories about DRM and how it affects you.
I eagerly looked for the witty acronym and.... oh. That's just... it. Hm. Okay then.

Interesting, but way too aimless and shallow at the moment. The website needs much more links and information to be taken seriously. Quotes from 10 years ago do not inspire any confidence either.
If it's a GOG pet project, no-one will really give a "FCK". If not, please involve more companies in it, publish more links, more information, invent some fictional or real goal/aim, make petitions or something.
So, is this the Tuesday release? :P
GOG going into political activism soon?
You guys should add a gallery where I can upload all the errors my games with Denuvo give me

Fairfox: so aside frooom horribull crass name taht should hav been nixed from birth i dont get it
clue me in
You seem to have quite an opinion on a suggestive-sounding name (which if you'd actually notice, is not actually, technically speaking, crass at all) for someone who has the grammatical capabilities of a dung beetle coming down from crack with a few tokes on the bong too many. Probably also drunk.

Even then I'd probably find it much easier to understand the beetle, as it most probably has a consistent language - which could in theory be incorporated into Google translate (this isn't likely, since drunken cracked-out weed smoking dung beetle to English translation hasn't ever been suggested as something worth striving for, let alone suggest as an option); the closest I came to attempting to understand your "language" (such as it is) was by studying how teenagers communicate on social media while drunk and/or stoned when using their mobile phone with only one hand.

Which also explains why you don't get it. Though to be fair, the beetle would probably have problems too at this point, what with the downers to counter the coming down from the uppers and all.

If I understand you correctly (and I apologise if I do not - but as described above that's not exactly unexpected) - you don't appear to appreciate how evil DRM actually is, by saying something to the effect of "well some games have it, so yeah I'll use it when forced to and I'm fine with that".

THAT is the problem - and the purpose of the website is to raise awareness among users of what it is, what it can do, and how it can totally FCK u UP. Because DRM can FCK u UP, u ND 2 tel DRM 2 FCK OFF. So FCK DRM.

Hope that makes things clearer. Though hopefully you've visited the website and now realise how evil it is. Every time you buy a game with DRM, you are basically saying that it's OK for someone to come over to your house and steal your car seat covers because they're kind of embarrassing and the company that made them is really sorry they exist and wants to cover up all evidence of their shocking design. Or wants to digitally replace Jabba the Hutt with a shaved walrus due to NASA coming into contact with aliens that kind of look a bit like the Hutts and we don't want to offend them lest they destroy our planet.

Do YOU really want someone to have the power to digitally replace a fictional character in a game or movie you like just because not doing so is believed by the powers that be that it could lead to the destruction of our entire species? After you've bought something, don't YOU have the right to watch it the way it was originally intended, without political interference? Wouldn't you rather doom the entire species than have something that YOU bought and paid for is altered to be slightly different just to appease minority interests? Who are these ALIENS to tell US what to do on OUR OWN PLANET?

Freedom or death. FCK DRM.
Thing is, drm is one of the enemies of videogame preservations, along with online multiplayer actually.

Take a look at the games you love now and even those you've played all your life.

Now imagine yourself, or your descendants (or any human or alien in the future really) trying to play those games...

How many of those will be playable and how many will soon descend into limbo, forgotten FOREVER!

Videogames seems to be the cultural product that is the MOST susceptible to the passage of time... even worse than CD-ROMs...
Man... what an unfortunate name... both looking immature and coming at a time when people are hypersensitive about sexualized violence and anything making the connection between sex and domination (before someone freaks, I'm not offended, I just think it is unfortunate branding concerning the timing).

I agree with the FCKDRM initiative...

But, Is VIMEO a 100% DRMFREE website??

A lot of videos can be downloaded, but others can not be downloaded and only can be watched via steaming.

I think FCKDRM must list 100% DRMFREE websites and stores and not stores with some DRMFREE content.

It is curious that Bioshock is available DRMFREE on Humble, but not here... Don't get me wrong, Humble is not a DRMFREE store; is just another steam key reseller with some DRMFREE games, just like Itchio.

Also, those auto quotes on the site are just stupid, you just have NO time to read those...

I hate this "feature", the people who invented it should be sot if they aren't already dead from shame...
Oooh, I like the new aggressive tone.

It just comes across as a little disingenuous while CDPR licenses Geralt out to Soul Calibur VI, considering that game went up for preorder on Steam yesterday with an EULA suggesting that it'll use Denuvo. I know CDPR and GOG are technically separate companies, but Geralt is as close to a DRM-free mascot as gaming has.
Good idea and important issue that the majority of people still haven't realized will effect their digital "property" sooner or later.

The tone of the initiative might be too edgy and preachy for its own good though. It preaches to the choir but many could dismiss it as a blatant advertisement. Like one of those "articles" that explains how vital and healthy e.g. fish oil is and also happens to be sponsored by fish oil producer.

It would be a good idea to explain the role and involvement of GOG clearly at the start of the page for the sake of full disclosure rather than leaving it to a passing mention at the end of the page.

Looks like CDPR is the solitary AAA dev/pub that doesn't whore themselves out to denuvo, the only thing that sucks about CDPR is that they haven't bought EA/Ubishit/valve/squeenix out already! Yeeeah it's a pipe-dream but I'd be grateful if they had more IPs as CDPR need to be the standard for AAA...
