That actually sounds quite fun. Having to run away from zombies at the start is quite a difference compared to Dead Island. I doubt I'd be bothered by the being forced to run away thing.
I rarely notice stuff like that in games.

I think the Enhanced Edition did some rebalancing, I remember hearing something about a new skill tree which you could use to get even more powerful.

Being quite frank, the removal of the zipline rope and removal of your all powerful weapons in exchange to barelly damaging sticks on certain missions is what annoys the most. But I'm sure you'll enjoy it. :)

I prefer Dead Island thousands times more for unique characters, longer game and variety than generic protagonist, QTEs, parokur limited to places you supposed to know and shallow story with the same hero in co-op. Dying Light is fun but it lacks that certain something and feels more like Far Cry3~4 in urban setting with zombies in it.
