Vestin: Besides - I approach books like I do games: I like some genres more than others but I'll try ANYTHING.

Ivory&Gold: Surely the best way to approach the matter, but who has the time...
That's the thing, isn't it ? We're all going to die at some point, so time is pretty much all we really do have... and a limited amount of it as well. It's all a matter of how we choose to spend it.
I'd really hate to wake up one day and realize that - yes - I got "a lot of stuff done" but haven't really enjoyed my life all that much. There HAS to be time.
Which includes picking what is "fun"... for you. Doing everything that comes your way means missing things you like more.

There's this old Polish movie, where a guy allegedly says "I only like the songs I know" ;).
What if I like discovering new things, broadening my horizons ? Of course - I'm not claiming this is a path everyone should take...

I'd say that a person should have a mix between trying new things and doing things they like.

You know, that does include being open towards new approaches to old things... *cough* Tarkovsky *cough*

I need physical books so I can stack the books I have read to form a literature-phallus.
Looks like it ends in four days...
Only 21 hours and 44 minutes to go before it finishes!!
I've not got around to reading the others yet, but I have read "250 Indie Games You Must Play" and "Generation Xbox".

250 Indie Games You Must Play is a truly dreadfully and amateurishly written book that I would never have paid money for otherwise. It reads more like a blog or forum post than it does an actual book.

Generation Xbox is much better written, although it's fixation on FMV and Laserdisc games in the first half of the book (and in particular its focus on Tom Zito) grossly exaggerates their impact on the gaming world's relationship with Hollywood. It goes on the assumption that 80s and 90s FMV was culturally dominant, which of course it wasn't.

New Story Bundle - The Sci-Fi Bundle

It's the second Sci-Fi Bundle they're doing.
Six books for $1 and if you pay at least $10 you also get:
-- The Stars in Shroud by Gregory Benford.
-- High-Opp by Dune author Frank Herbert.

You can read more about it here.

As usual, up for about three weeks.
