I understand Baldur's Gate, Beyond Good & Evil, Psychonauts, Gothic 2, but why am I being recommended Freespace 2 ? There is not a single game in my library that is similar to that, maybe except the release year.

I guess there is no way to manually remove certain recommendations so the recommendation algorithem would learn better (like youtube has for videos)? I don't want to rate 1 star a game I don't know if thats the only option either haha

Why worry about it:)
But it's the best Volition game...

That's not how you spell Saints Row 2.
It could very well be based on the fact that you have purchase a few older titles and as you mentioned the release year is similar.

For what it is worth, Freespace 1 and Freespace 2 are rather noteworthy games and at that price reduction the deal is pretty good.

Noteworthy is an understatement. Freespace 2 was widely considered to be the best game in the genre.

Ok then they could improve the recommendation algorithem itself then so they recommend stuff I might actually buy.

Sorry but I honestly dislike spaceship games since when I was a kid haha, i'm sure they are good games though since people do rate them highly.

Perhaps that is the source of it right there, enough people are giving them a high rating that it is stacking it into your recommendations list.

It could be the overall review score plus number of reviews on the games GOG product page is making them list as "Highly Recommended" and the game's genre is not factoring into it.

I don't think those recommendations are in any way personalised.

That list is substantially what I get with and without logging in.

Do you own all of the following?

Witcher 2
Baldurs Gate 2: EE
HOMM 3
System Shock 2

If so, that recommended list is given to everyone.

Freespace 2's prominent listing is likely due to the 4.8 rating and most people having it on account of a giveaway earlier this year.

Oh ye I own those, thats the reason then... kinda disappointing, I swear some times they recommend me obscure RPGs that I might actually buy no way its recommended for everyone.

There is also the "Recommended for you" area on the front page. That one might be personalised. (At least different games are shown when logged in).

Heh ;)
Really don't think I got the time for it, but maybe I'll buy Gothic. Bought BG EE and starting to spend more time on my 3rd attempt to play through it. I HATE LEVEL CAPS.

Hope I don't bug out my BG2 game but I used a simple beamdog forum fix to remove the level cap. Level caps are the reason I don't play fallout 3 or NV any more. So many unexplored places, but no point with a level cap, much rather spend more time on FO 4 instead. Which DOESN'T have a level cap....
